This family was subject of a Removal Order from Ticknall to Belton, Leicestershire, dated 13 December 1775: “Thomas WHITE, Rebecca his wife, and Samuel their son aged about two years did lately come to Ticknall not having gained Legal Settlement from Belton, Leicestershire”
No baptism has been found for #5 James WHITE, but in a Ticknall Settlement Examination dated 29 Oct 1805, he stated that he was aged 26 and born in Ticknall to parents who resided there under Certificate from Belton, Leics. In a second Examination, dated 4 July 1806, he stated that he was aged 27. These ages equate with a birth year of 1779, making him almost certainly the youngest son of Thomas and Rebecca; furthermore, his older daughter was named Rebecca.
A Mary WHITE, aged 61, resident in Ticknall and described as “infirm”, was included in a list of Ticknall paupers requiring Parish Relief – dated 25 March 1848. Possibly this Mary WHITE?
