 Or that David & Mike have a 50% probability of being related within 11 generations. Or a 95% probability of being related within 20 generations.  This can be modified further in that we are fairly certain that they are not connected within 16 generations. For Dan & Bob the figures are 8-22 generations. This accords well with their paper trail which indicates the time to their common ancestor as being six generations. 

NB. The Mutation Rates as used by FTDNA have been criticized as too optimistic. Some use an average Mutation Rate of 0.002. Thus, some argue that, the above generations and years should be multiplied by 1¹/₂ to 2¹/₂ times. research is underway to try and solve this argument.
