Atkinson Study Update:
Dec '10
Dear All,
I hope this update finds you all well?:
As you may recall, I try to trawl the internet looking at various DNA sites looking for Atkinsons (& variants) who have had their Y DNA tested. I then convert the data so that it is compatible across companies and compare the data. I convert the marker results to the standard as used by FTDNA. I hope to optimise the benefits of DNA testing for everyone.
I would appreciate everyone’s advice and guidance on a number of points.
Please check I have your details on the following page: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~blackstoneblakeston/Atkinson%20Researchers.html .
1) That they are correct.
2) If I haven’t added you to the site and you’d like to be, please let me know.
3) If I could have a basic tree to add to my list.
4) If I have included you and you don’t wish to be included please let me know and I will remove your data. This latter is the main issue that I would like to address.
Currently, I try to write to everyone and tell them what I’m doing. Not everyone replies. I’m then always in a dilemma as to whether to use their data. I have taken the policy that if they object they would let me know. I’m also very careful not to include data that would be problematic or I think intrusive.
· Should I continue with this policy?
· I will extract any data if requested.
· I’m going to send this to everyone again now. I will also keep a hard copy database as to what responses I have to save having to bother you all with this again in the future. (I’m afraid that previous emails I sent were lost on my old computer).
I’m no computer whizz kid and this is tedious time consuming work. I’d very much appreciate everyone’s guidance and involvement. If this are any additional thoughts that people have please let me know.
All the best to you all,
Chris Atkinson
