ALLEN John Bowyer Blacksmith 1839: John Bowyer Allen, a blacksmith, was my GGrandfather. Parents: James Allen, a farmer & Rachel nee Jenkins,married at Mamhilad Church on the 25 December 1862. He was 23yrs old making his date of birth 1839 most probably in Monmouthshire. According to the 1871 Census he is described as a Blacksmith and living at Llanfrechva Upper (Panteg). He left his family about 1880 and is reputed to have gone to Italy to work for the King as a locksmith, nothing further was heard from him. Contact Mary by

DAVIS William.R. Blacksmith 1816: William.R.Davis, blacksmith was born in Wales in 1816, I don't know where; came to the US before 1851 when he married Margaret Longridge in Wheeling Virginia. He worked in St Clair twp near Pittsburgh for a few years and then for Brown & Bunnell in Youngstown Ohio for the rest of his career. Family stories tell of the music and dancing between pours, William's son (my great grand father) becoming a professional musician after they left the mill. As automation rose he made plans with his sons (puddlers both) to become a merchant and the last years before his death in 1899 he kept a shop. Contact Elizabeth by.

GRIFFITHS William Blacksmith & Whitesmith 1786: William Griffiths, blacksmith & ?whitesmith. Born about 1786 in the parish of St Mary, Pembrokeshire, Wales. He is listed on the 1841 census as a blacksmith and in the 1851 census as a whitesmith. His daughter Sarah (my ggg-grandmother) listed him on her marriage certificate in 1850 as a blacksmith. MORRIS John Blacksmith 1795: John Morris, born about 1795. He was a blacksmith living at the Blacksmiths Shop, Norton, Radnorshire (Powys). Died June 1877 and is buried at Norton Church with the insription 'Blacksmith of this village. His sons Richard Born about 1837 and Josiah Born about 1824 also lived and worked as blacksmiths in NORTON. The family were Blacksmiths in the village from at least 1841 to 1881 when they appear to become farmers and farm first at Norton and then Rowley Farm near PRESTEIGNE, Powys.
