In 1826, he was convicted at Gloucester Assizes of stealing a piece of timber from the Forest of Dean, and sentenced to seven years transportation. He served six years on the prison hulk "Justitia" at Woolwich, before being pardoned in 1832. He died in 1846 and is buried at Newland.Also listed in the Blacksmiths of Gloucestershire.
