inked in will appear in "BOLD" and my comments in "red".  This document and others were obtained in 1978 from the Military National archives in Washington DC where military and pension records were searched for
Frank and William HEDGPETH using GSA form 6751.  The address at that

COUNTY OF Cleburn

    Before me, S P Baber Judge of Probate in and for said County, in said State, personally appeared Wm Hedgeheth (sic), who being duly sworn, deposes and says:
    That, while in the military or naval service of this State, or Confederate States; he was a Private in company G of 1st Regiment of Ga Cavalory (sic) and, that he did not desert the service of this State, or Confederate States: That while in the discharge of his duties as such, on the ___ day of May 1862 at Kingston, in the State of Tenn he was afflicted with chronic Rheumatism & is '78 years of age and in consequence of such loss of limb, wound or wounds; sickness or old age, he is physically unable to earn a livelihood by labor:  That he was, on the 13th day of February, 1891, and is now, a resident of Alabama, and that his post office address is Easom (sic) Hill(Ga-live near line): That he is engaged in the business of Farming: That his taxable property consists of 160 acres $160 no other taxable property, and is not worth in the aggregate more than five hundred dollars: That his salary or gross income does not amount to five hundred dollars per year; and that his wife does not own a separate estate of more than five hundred dollars: And he hereby makes application for relief under said Act.

    That, while in the military or naval service of this State, or Confederate States he was a Private in company G of 1st Regiment of _______________ and, that he did not desert the services of this State, or Confederate States: That, while in the discharge of his duties as such, on the ____ day of May 1862 at _______, in the State of Tennessee, he was affected with Chronic Rheumatism and is (no number entered)  years of age and in consequence of such loss of limb, wound or wounds, sickness or old age, he is physically unable to earn a livelihood by labor: That he is now a bona fide resident of Alabama, and that he has been such for at least one year prior to this date: That his postoffice address is Esom Hill Ga. That he is engaged in the business of farming. That his taxable property consists of 160 acres of land $240 - 1 wagon $10 and is not worth in the aggregate more than five hundred dollars:  That his salary or gross income does not amount to five hundred dollars per year; and this his wife does not own a separate estate of more than five hundred dollars.  And he hereby makes application for relief under said Act.

This applicant Wm Hedgpeth ? (can't read word) in response to an oral examination says: he was in the service 18 months in Cavalry service in the states of Tenn, Kentucky, Ga and Ala. was with ? (can't read word) Forrest in the battle of Murphesboro (sic) Tenn July 1862 and he is 81 years old and is unable to earn a living by manual labor on that account.

APPLICATION FOR THE RELIEF OF CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS AND SAILORS

THE STATE OF ALABAMA,
Cleburne County,

To the Honorable Board of Pension Examiners for said County:
    Your petitioner, Wm Hedgpeth, respectfully represents to your honorable board that he is a resident citizen of Cleburne county, in the State of Alabama, and that he resided in said State on the first day of January in the year 1899.  That he enlisted in the service of the State, or ("State, or" marked through) Confederate States, as a private in company "D" in the 1st Ga Regiment (insert word "Cavalry") on the 20 day of April 1862 at Dallas Ga in the State ("in the State" crossed out) of Alabama ("Alabama" crossed out) (insert word "Ga"), and that he was honorably discharged from such service on the ...... day Sept 1863, that he did not desert the service of the Confederate States, or of the State of Alabama; That he was wounded at the battle of ....... in the State of ...... ; That he is now unable to make a living by manuel (sic) labor on account of old age and general debility; That he is at the time of filing this application 81 years of age, and that his post office address is Esom Hill ("Alabama" marked through and "Ga" inserted); That he does not own property either in his own name, nor that of his wife, to the value of four hundred ($400) dollars; that his annual income does not exceed four hundred ($400) dollars, and that he has no children upon whom he can depend for support.  Your petitioner files herewith a complete schedule of all the property owned by himself and wife: In consideration of the foregoing facts, your petitioner asks that his name be placed upon the pension rolls, in the class that your honorable board may adjudge him to belong, that he may participate in the division of the fund provided for the relief of Confederate and Alabama soldiers and their widows, by act of the General Assembly approved February 10, 1899.
