Controversy over the mother of Teresa:

According to Rodeick Stuart, through her mother Zaida, we are descended from Muhammad the Prophet. Sources are Spanish including the Encyclopedia of Islam I, vol 6 & 7, 1987; and Ency. of Islam 2, vol 1, 5, 6, 7, 1996. However, Teresa and Zaida are about the same age so that is impossible. Other researchers state that Zimena Munoz Nunez is her mother.

 

However others state Ximena was the mistress of Alfonso VI and not his wife, daughter of Nunez.

 

According to Weis,  Ancestral Roots, 7th edition, line 112:24 Teresa was the daughter of Alfonso VI by his mistress Ximena Ninia de Guzman, quoting Moriarty "The Plantagenet Ancestry."

 

It is my opinion that the Spanish source would be more reliable than  G. Andrews Moriarty in this case.

El cid was not buried until ten years after he died. When he died he was enbalmed, dressed and seated on his war horse, Babieca, with his sword Tizon in his hand as he requested, so the enemy Moors of Alcudia wouldn't know he was dead, as he returned to San Pedro de Cardena. As his last escort, the great El Cid had about fourteen hundred  soldiers:  four hundred in front with his banner, four hundred behind and six hundred guarding Jimena his wife.  Jimena would not allow him to be buried, and so he sat at the right hand side of the altar in his chair, holding his sword  with eyes open, appearing to be alive for ten years. When his clothes began to look old they were replaced with new.  But when his nose fell off they decided it was time to bury the great Cid, my 27th great-grandfather.
