Welcome to the WOODS History page. As I stated on the main page, the Woods side of the family has had many "brick walls". It's my hope that someone out there will be able to fill in some of the blanks and help me add to this page. I will be adding more as I uncover and discover more of my Woods side and of course, I'm hoping other family members who are more informed than I am will add to this page also. Before I get into the "who is who" part of this page, I will tell how the BISHOP-WOODS families tie in.

My grandfather, HENRY ALLEN BISHOP married THELMA INEZ WOODS on September 14, 1931 in a "double ring" ceremony. They were married in Hugo, Oklahoma. The couple that were married with them were Thelma's brother, JESSIE O'DELL WOODS and, Henry's sister, SARAH (ZONA) BELL BISHOP. And that is how we became the BISHOP-WOODS Clan. Bishop married Woods and Woods married Bishop. I always thought that was neat. But then, I always thought these were four of the greatest people ever put on this earth.

Okay, now we'll get down to the "whose who" part. ROBERT C. WOODS, birth-death-parents unknown so far, married MARY JANE FULTON, birth-death-parents unknown. What I have found out so far is, that at the time of thier childrens birth, it is believed Robert and Mary Jane were in the Lamar County, Texas area. Remember, in genealogy all things we believe to be true can change at any time. Below is a list of the children of ROBERT C. AND MARY JANE FULTON WOODS.

• Lizzie (Elizabeth)Woods. Married to a Mr. Melvin.
• Beulah Woods.
• Jessie Woods.
• Leonard Woods.
• Bertie Woods.
• Buster Woods.
• Robert Woods. Married May Annie Gardner, 1908.
• James (Jim) Woods.
• *John Henry Woods*. Born July 5, 1880. Died, Feb.15, 1962.

*John Henry Woods* married a widow, El Dora Wilkins who was born, March 11, 1875. El Dora died on Oct.24, 1938. I don't know when or where they were married but, I do know that El Dora had two children by her first husband. They are listed below with the other children of JOHN HENRY and EL DORA WILKINS WOODS.

• Elbert Woods.(oldest child. Died at age 12)
• William Lee Woods. Born, 1906. Died, 1966)
• Marvin Woods. Born, 1909. Died,1930 (had a son Carl Woods who was raised by step father and went by Carl Smith)
• Jessie O'Dell Woods. Born, July 22, 1911 in Direct, Texas. Died, Feb.24, 1983. Buried in Great Falls, Montana.
• Thelma Inez BISHOP Woods. Born, Dec.12, 1913 in Direct, Texas. Died, Jan.19, 1990. Laid to rest at Darwin Cemetery, Darwin, Pushmataha County OK.
• Lula Bohanan. Married Willie/William Bohanan. (half sister)
• LoBelle Plumbley. Married Pete Plumbley. (half sister)
  

  Both Jessie and Zona Woods and Henry and Thelma Bishop have children still living and therefore, out of respect for thier privacy I will not go any farther down the line. Jessie and Zona Woods had four (4) children, two are living. Those who passed on were both infants, Rubin Lee Woods, b. 4/26/37, d.4/27/37 and Clairene Woods, b. 9/24/38, passed on a month later.
  

  John Henry Woods, along with his son William Lee, his daughter Thelma WOODS Bishop and his grandchildren Rubin Lee and Clairene Woods are buried at Darwin Cemetery, Darwin, Pushmataha County Ok. Jessie O'Dell Woods is laid to rest in Great Falls, Montana and Sarah Zona Bell Bishop Woods is resting in Kallispell, Montana. Thelma Inez WOODS Bishop is resting beside her partner in life, Henry Allen Bishop. Henry Allen Bishop left us on Jan. 19, 1980 and Thelma joined him 10 years to the day later on Jan.19, 1990.
