United States on the 10th day of October, 1860, coming to Newark, where he has resided ever since. On the 6th of

Amelia Graef obituary (Source: The Licking County Genealogical Society's Library obituary file.)
Date of death: 18 April, 1889.
Mrs. Amelia Graef Found Dead In Her Bed Thursday Night
Mrs. Amelia Graef, wife of Mr. J. J. Graef, who lives at No. 17 East Railroad street, died very suddenly about
8 o'clock Thursday. Mrs. Graef had been in her usual health, but complained of not feeling very well about 7 o'clock
in the evening, and went into the bed-room to lie down. The family did not want to disturb her, but about 9 o'clock
one of the members of the family went into the bed room to see how Mrs. Graef was, and was overwhelmed with astonishment
and grief to find that she was dead. There have been various rumors in circulation as to the cause of Mrs. Graef's
sudden death, more or less wide of the truth. An inquest was held by Dr. D. M. Smith over the remains Thursday
p.m. and the Coroner returned a verdict that the deceased came to her death as the result of excessive and protracted
intemperance. The deceased was a daughter of the late Charles Gross, Esq., and was 49 years and 13 days old. She
leaves a husband and six children. The funeral took place lastt Sunday afternoon at one o'clock from the late home
of the deceased, adn the interment was at Cedar Hill cemetery. Rev. E. I. Jones officiated at the funeral.
