EDITOR COURIER - I saw in the columns fo the COURIER that you wanted the names of the old guards who voted for Harrison in 1840.  I am

proud that I voted for him, it being my first vole for President.  I then resided near Dresden, Ohio, when the great ball that rolled up such an overwhelming majority for OLD TIP, was constructed.  I am proud the Republicans of Dresden have set another ball a-rolling, this time for young Tippecanoe and Morton, too.  I was at Dresden the 23rd of August when the ball was started.  I helped start the ball of '40.  It was a grand affair.  I never will forget that night.  The old town of Dresden was illuminated.  I met Mr Harrison then and shook hands with him and I would like to see his grandson.

I am 71 years old, I was born in Dresden September 17, 1817.  I have lived in Muskingum County all my life, and have voted for eleven Presidential candidates, namely: Harrison, Taylor, Scott, Freemont, Lincoln twice, Grant twice, Hayes, Garfield, Blaine, and if my life is spared until the sixth of November 1888, I will cast my vote for Ben Harrison, and I have nine sons and two sons-in-law and one grandson, all true blue Republicans, two of whom were soldiers, volunteers in the Union army. and they will all vote with me for young Tippecanoe and Morton too, making in all thirteen vvotes for Harrison in my family.  This beats the Coshocton County cahllenge and our John J. Bell's eleven.  I am bitter against old veto Grover and his Southern counsellors.  Hurrah for Harrison and Protection!  If they don't win the day it won't be my fault.

                                                                        Yours Respectfully,
