Rosina Schanzenbach

Pioneer Walworth Resident Passes
Funeral services were held on April
26, at Franklin, Calif., for Mrs. Rosina Schanzenbach, 89, who passed away
on Sunday, April 23, after a brief illness. The deceased was one of the
pioneer residents of this county and is well-known to many of the older
residents of this vicinity.
Rosina Schanzenbach was born in Gluecksthal,
South Russia on February 22, 1855, a daughter of George and Barbar Schnaidt.
She was wed to Daniel Schanzenbach Sr., who preceded her in death nine
years ago. They came to this country in 1888 and resided in the vicinity
of Bangor in Walworth county. Later the family lived near Akaska. Some
years later she and Mr. Schanzenbach moved to Eureka where they resided
until 1922 when they moved to Elk Grove, California. Since the death of
her husband, the deceased has been making her home with her son, Daniel
Schanzenbach Jr., where she passed away quietly on the morning of April
23 at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 1 day. She will always be remembered
by her family and friends as a good mother and a true Christian.
She leaves to mourn her losts: Nine
sons, Daniel of Elk Grove, Calif.; John of Sacramento, Calif.; Fred of
Lodi, Calif.; Jake of Wapato, Wash.; George of Chicago, Ill.; Henry of
Mahto, S.D.; Christ of Glenham, S.D.; August of Selby, S.D.; and Dave of
Akaska, S.D.; one daughter, Mrs. Samuel Heier of Akaska; 53 grandchildren
and a large number of great grandchildren. The deceased was the mother
of the late Mrs. Simon Gimbel Sr., of Java, and was the grandmother of
Mrs. Hans Carlson, of south of Java.
