Funeral Services Is Held Saturday For Pioneer

Funeral services were held Saturday at St.
Paul’s Lutheran church at Bowdle for Mrs. Katherina Vilhauer, 89, piooneer
resident of that vicinity with Rev. Theo. Judt officiating. Mrs. Vilhauer
passed away at St. Luke’s hospital at Aberdeen on July 24 after an illness
of three weeks duration.
Katherina Kaise was born August 31,
1856 at Gluecksthal, South Russia where she was married to Matt. Eisenbeisz.
In 1893, the family came to this country, settling on a farm southeast
of Java, in Walworth county. In 1898 her husband passed away and 3 years
later she moved to Bowdle, where in 1911, she was married to Philip Vilhauer,
who died in 1925. (added note:Bowdle Centennial book spelled surname Kaiser)
She resided in Bowdle until May 1st when she went to Aberdeen
to be with her son Jacob and granddaughter, Mrs. Eugene Vilhauer, and where
she became ill about three weeks before her death.
She is survived by: Six sons, Matt Eisenbeisz
of Hosmer, Jacob of Aberdeen, John and Fred of Bowdle, Dave of Hosmer and
Christ of Isabel, 49 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great
great grandchildren.
