------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Funeral services for Gottlieb Schock Sr.,
73, pioneer Walworth county resident, were held from his home near Lowry
and the Congregational church at Lowry on Wednesday, March 22, with
Rev. E. Bettenhausen of Selby, and Rev. Hoersch of Lowry, officiating.
The deceased was born in Glueckstahl,
South Russia on April 6, 1870, and was baptized (Continued on page 8) and
confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1892, he came with his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Geo. Schock Sr., to the United States and the family settled near
Java. In 1896, he was united in marriage to Fredricka Aman, who passed
away ten years later. In 1906, he was married to Emelia Reiser and the
family moved to a farm, four miles south of the present site of Lowry,
where he resided until his death. He and his wife had recently planned
to go to California but a few weeks ago, he became ill and his condition
gradually became worse until Thursday, March 16, when he passed away.
