Friederika Mohr
August 17, 1873-December 26, 1947
Funeral services were held at the Jehovah
Lutheran church, north of Hosmer, on December 30 for Mrs. John Mohr, 73,
who passed away December 26. Rev. Lehner of Hosmer, officiated at the service
and burial was made at the side of her husband at Hosmer.
Mrs. Friederika Mohr was born August
17, 1873 in Glueckstahl, South Russia, the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs.
John Vagele nee Mertz. In 1884 she came to the United States with her parents,
settling in McPherson county where she was confirmed by Rev. Hahn in 1888.
On November 13, 1892 she was united
in marriage to John Mohr and to this union, 12 children were born. Four
children preceded her in death as follows: Elsie, 20, Lydia and Rosina
in infancy; and Laura, Mrs. August Bentz, 42, of Billings, Mont., who passed
away in 1941. After the death of her husband she continued to reside on
a farm north of Hosmer with her children. She moved to Java about a year
ago and resided there until shortly before her death, when she left to
visit some of her children.
While visiting at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Carl Auch at Burt, N.D., she suffered two strokes and on December
26, 1946 she passed away at 5 o’clock at the age of 73 years, 4 months
and 10 days.
She leaves to mourn her, four daughters;
Sadie, Mrs. Carl Auch of Burt, N.D.; Beata, Mrs. Jake Frey of Missoula,
Mont.; Rosina, Mrs. John Job of Java; and Alma, Mrs. John Weller of Eureka;
four sons, August and Reinhold of Hosmer; Henry of Circle, Mont., and Gustave
of Billings, Mont.; one brother, Fred Vogele of Trail City; three sisters,
Katherina Mertz of Alberta, Canada, Eva Jess and Rosina Hegel of McClusky,
N.D.; 32 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
