was charged in 1657 with witchcraft, was tried at East Hampton, on Long Island, and acquitted.
John and Elizabeth Persons had a daughter named Lydia, born at East Hampton, LI, April 10, 1680. In July, 1691, they all came to Cape May county, and Mr Persons bought a plantation about four miles below the present Couort House, and settled on it in September, 1691. He died and was buried there in January, 1695. |
