My Grandmother Ruth Ollom and Grandfather (actually Step-Grandfather) Darrel Wooden raised me from the time I was 8 months old. That would be July of 1945; At the time, my mother was expecting my sister and getting divorced. She didn't have enough income to support herself and care for a baby. My father wanted both daughters but the judge split us up, giving Ruthie to him and full custody of me to my grandparents, until my mother could "provide a better home." That time was never to come. I always thought God had his own joke on these two parents; Ruthie looked more like my Mother and I had many of my father's features. |
