The Folletts of Salem, Mass. and Salem 1692 Map

The earliest ancestor I have traced to the Colonies is Robert Follett of Salem, Mass. who married Persis Black in 1655. She was a daughter of John and Susannah Black of England, who also appeared to have settled in or near Salem. Robert and Persis had a large family (10 children), a house and property near Cat Cove and a farm just outside of Salem town in the area of Johnson's Plain. I heard a rumour that John Black was a tavern proprietor in Salem town.

To see a map showing the Cat Cove Follett Property CLICK HERE. The rough location of the Follett Farm is indicated on the below map.

Here is an historical map prepared by W.P. Upham dating back to the time of the Witch Trials in Salem in 1692 that I located through the wonderful University of Virginia on-line library at this link: Click Here. The Virgina map was wonderful but impossible to reproduce in complete version here. This is only a section of the map with minor enhancements (by me), in order to show the rough location of the Follett farm, location of witch executions and main part of Salem town (in lower right corner), etc.
