HUBER FAMILY

WILLIAM HENRY "BILL" HUBER born at home April 14, 1922 Union, Hardin Co, Iowa, died September 20, 2001 in Tacoma, Pierce Co, WA. Bill was the youngest of 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. Bill's mother was MINTIE MAE BRUTON b. Aug 1878 Sparta Christian Co MO, died 1960 Iowa; and his father was ALONZO COX HUBER, b. Dec 25, 1871 Thornton, Boone Co IN, died 1951 Iowa. Both are buried in the Bangor, Iowa Friend's church cemetary. I have a copy of their marriage certificate, dated July 6, 1901 in McCracken, Christian Co. Missouri. They were married in the home of Mrs. B.B. Bruton (Mintie Mae's mother Siloama Whitecotton Bruton) by a minister William Davidson M.G. From the birthplaces of their children listed below, it appears that they moved around quite a bit in the first few years of their marriage, from Christian Co MO where Mintie's family was, to Arkansas, to Marshall Co Iowa where Alonzo's family was, back to Christian Co MO and eventually to Union, Hardin Co Iowa around 1910

ALONZO COX HUBER and MINTIE MAE BRUTON had these children:

Wilmer Burton "Pete" Huber born April 7, 1902 ? Christian Co MO married Hazel Kerkindall . Pete passed away 1966

Lawrence Winford "Brownie" Huber b March 8, 1904 Harrison, Boone Co Arkansas, married Irene Craig (Brownie passed July 1974, Irene still alive?)

Inez Wanda Huber b Nov 20, 1905 Marshall Co Iowa passed away 1997 m. Orville Shutt

Helen Lucille Huber b July 8, 1908 Christian Co MO passed away 1976 m Dan Donner

Chester Bain "Chet" Huber b Nov 11, 1910 Union, Hardin Co Iowa m. Margaret Wagner ( Margaret still living; married 2nd time to unk Carter) Chester passed away, date unknown.

Alice Alone Huber b Feb 13, 1913 passed away 1966 Union Iowa m. Gale Mobley

Argo Arznil Huber b Feb 14, 1915 Union, Iowa d Jan 9, 2005 m. Jess "Buss" Menter

Isaac Dresdon "Ike" Huber b Feb 24, 1917 passed away 1999 m. Naomi unknown

Olga Dorine "Babe" Huber b March 9, 1919 Union, Iowa; died June 2002 m. Charles Menter

William Henry "Bill" Huber born 1922 Union, Iowa died Sept 20, 2001 married Alice Martine 1945, divorced, then married Connie Porter 1979

Grandfather ALONZO C HUBER was previously married to Mary E Rohrer Dec 27, 1897 in Boone Co IN. They are listed in the 1900 Boone co IN census, Center twp, Alonzo spelled "Elonzo". Apparently there was a boy child from this first marriage George E Hoover/Huber b 1900 Boone co IN, as per the 1900 census, but I have been unable to find out more information concerning what happened to George and his mother. I was told by family members that Alonzo's first wife died, and that prompted Alonzo to head south to Missouri, but I have not yet been able to verify this.

Grandfather ALONZO HUBER's father was PHILLIP L. HUBER b 1844 OH and his mother's name was CAROLINE AMELIA "CRAMELIA" FRAZIER b 1848 Thornton, Boone Co IN. They were married Nov 24, 1869 in Boone Co Indiana. Wedding was performed by Alexander Hoover, JP as per their marriage license. In 1870 census PHILLIP & CRAMELIA were living in Montgomery Co IN, Sugar Creek Township, Darlington Post Office. They lived right next door to PHILLIP'S mother Catherine (Shriver) Huber and his youngest brother Elijah Huber.

Cramelia and Philip Huber had these children

Alonzo Cox Huber b. Dec 25 1871 Thornton, Boone Co IN m Mary Rohrer, Mintie Mae Bruton, children listed above

Aretta Huber b. 1872 Marshall Co IA married Jefferson Spake, moved to OK. Children mostly born OK except a few born Iowa : Neva Spake b 1893 Iowa, Wilda Spake b 1895 Iowa m Clarence Marshall Wren, Cordy George Spake b 1900, Cady Spake, Wilmer Spake, Elmer Spake, Merle Spake, Orley Spake, Gorman Spake, Veva Spake, Josephine Spake.

Minnie Huber b. 1882 Marshall Co IA married Melvin Clemens, then William Planders; Four sons: Ralph Clemens, Harley Clemens, Charles Plander, Elmer Plander.

Clara Huber b. ? died in infancy

Great Grandfather PHILLIP L HUBER was quite a mystery man. Around 1882 he took young Alonzo age 12 to the Hardin Co ((Iowa) fair. He gave the boy some money and told Alonzo to meet him at the horse barn at a certain hour. Alonzo went to the horse barn and waited...and waited...and waited. Philip never showed up. In fact, he disappeared completely, leaving Cramelia Frazier Huber to raise her three children alone. No one knows what happened to him. Cramelia married Peter Clow in 1895, and he died in 1899. Apparently she was very unlucky in love!!

Great grandfather PHILLIP L. HUBER's father was ELIJAH HUBER b abt 1808 Ohio, died June 7, 1857 Montgomery Co IN, and his mother was CATHERINE SHRIVER b abt 1812 PA, died May 28, 1888 IN, daughter of LEWIS SHRIVER and SUSANNAH LOOKHART or LUCKHART. who were from colonial families that were original settlers of Maryland, but migrated to PA and eventually to Ohio.

ELIJAH & CATHERINE received their license to marry on August 11, 1829 in Hocking Co, Ohio. I have found ELIJAH in the 1830 Hocking Co Ohio Fed census with wife and baby daughter, living near his father WILLIAM HUBER and Catherine's father LEWIS SHRIVER.

ELIJAH had a brother JACOB HUBER who married CATHERINE'S sister MARGARET SHRIVER. The two families lived next to each other in Sugar Creek Twp, Montgomery Co Indiana from about 1850 onward. The surname spelling was both HUBER or HOOVER on census records, varying from year to year. I have also seen it spelled HOOBER. See the biography of Jacob Huber below.

ELIJAH & CATHERINE (SHRIVER) HUBER and JACOB & MARGARET (SHRIVER) HUBER are all buried in the St James Lutheran Cemetary, Franklin Township, Montgomery Co IN.

According to the 1850 Montgomery Co IN census, and St James Lutheran church cemetary records, ELIJAH and CATHERINE HUBER had the following children:

Susan Huber b abt 1830? OH no further information; may have died young?

Lewis Huber b abt 1834 OH died in Civil War buried St James Lutheran cemetary, Montgomery Co IN no dates, no marriage record.

William V Huber b March 23 1835 Hamilton Co OH, d 1900, m Margaret J Hemphill, lived in Cass County IN by 1880 census. Family back in Montgomery Co IN by 1900 census. Buried St James Lutheran Cemetary, Montgomery Co IN. Several children of his also buried there. Middle name probably "Valentine" after his two uncles. Likely served in the Civil War.

Martin Huber b abt 1840 OH Civil War 10th & 27th Indiana Infantry m. Eliza Sappenfield, lived Parke Co IN by mid 1860s. SEE BIO BELOW

Phebe Ann Elizabeth Huber b Dec 20, 1838 Pickaway Co OH died 1906 Montgomery Co IN m George Bowen, several children buried Clouser Cemetary

Mary M. Huber b abt 1841 OH m Oliver Mahon, William Little

Phillip L Huber b 1844 OH m Caroline Amelia "Cramelia" Frazier 1869 Boone Co IN Middle name probably Lewis or Louis after his grandfather, and first name Phillip after his maternal uncle.Phillip Shriver.

Mariah/Maria Huber b abt 1845 OH m. Alfred F. Clouser, numerous children; bio of son Martin Clouser available online

Indiana Huber (female) b Jan 9, 1848, died 1871 Montgomery Co IN m Isaac Bowen, two children before her death.

Marcus P. Huber b 1850 IN died July 5, 1851, buried St James Lutheran cemetary

Elijah "Liga" Huber b abt 1853 IN m. America J. Rogers 1875 Boone Co IN

This family was present in the 1850, 1860 & 1870 census in Sugar Creek Twp, Montgomery Co IN. I have only been able to find some of them in the 1880 and 1900 census.

BIOGRAPHY OF JACOB HUBER/HOOBER (brother of gg grandfather Elijah Huber)

JACOB HOOBER, farmer, Darlington, was born in Ohio in 1814 and was married in 1837, and emigrated to Coles Co Illinois in 1842, where they remained but six weeks, then to Fountain Co IN, where they lived seven years. Then they came to Montgomery Co Indiana in 1850, and located where they live now. His father W. Hoober ( William Huber as per the 1830 Ohio census) was a native of Virginia, and emigrated to Ohio in pioneer times, where he died at age 60 years. Jacob's mother, Elizabeth Kiefer Hoober, was a native of Ohio, descended from German parents. She died in her 65th year. Mrs Jacob Hoober (Margaret Shriver) is the daughter of Louis (Lewis) Shriver and Anna (Susannah) Lookhart (Luckhart)Shriver, both natives of Maryland. They emigrated to Ross Co Ohio in 1821. The former died in 1845, the latter in 1857. By this marriage Jacob Hoober has one child, Eliza Ann, married to Charles Shone. Mr Hoober and his wife are members of the Lutheran church. In his boyhood he received not even the education of the Common School. He is the possessor of a good farm of 40 acres, which is in good cultivation and well stocked.

From "Montgomery Co Indiana History" by H W Beckwith, p 577, H H Hill publishers, Chicago, Illinois, 1881

BIOGRAPHY OF MARTIN HUBER (son of Elijah, brother to Phillip L Huber)

MARTIN HUBER farmer, Parkville, is a native of Ohio, b in 1830, and is the son of Elijah & Catherine Shrever (Shriver) Huber, both natives of PA (incorrect? Elijah born OH). When 17 he came with his parents to Indiana. His father was both a cooper and a farmer. Martin's maternal grandfather L. Shriver (Lewis Shriver) was a soldier in the war of 1812. At the age of 34 Martin was married to Eliza Sappenfield, daughter of Matthias & Christiana Grimes Sappenfield, both natives of NC and early pioneer settlers in Parke Co IN. Eliza's father was a prime leader of the Lutheran church where he lived. They have by this union one child, Perry W Huber. He (Martin?) lives on the old farm of his wife's father, consisting of 115 acres. Along the south branch of the Little Raccoon there is an abundance of sandstone of a very fine quality for building and a bed of fire rock which is quite valuable for furnace building. In politics Martin Huber is a straight Jackson democrat. He and his wife are members of the Lutheran faith.. Their ancestors were strict patrons of religion. Mrs. Huber (Eliza Sappenfield?) has a brother who is a minister in the church to which she belongs. Mr Huber began life poor, but by perserverance he makes farming a success.

From "History of Parke Co Indiana" by J. M. Beedle, HH Hill pub, Chicago, date?

Great great grandfather ELIJAH HUBER'S father was WILLIAM or WILHELM HUBER b abt 1779 or 1780 PA? or possibly in the town of Watson, Hampshire Co VA (now Capon Springs West Virginia), died March 1836 Hocking Co Ohio, and his mother was ANNA ELIZABETH KIEFER/KEFFER, b Jan 2, 1780 Berlin, Somerset Co PA died abt 1845 Hocking Co Ohio. She was the daughter of JOHANN JACOB KEFFER and ANNA MARIA NASS.

WILLIAM / WILHELM HUBER & ANNA ELIZABETH KEFFER were married around 1798 in Somerset Co PA, and appear in the 1800 Berlin, Somerset Co PA census as a young couple with one child, near both their elderly fathers. After the death of their parents, they emigrated to Ross/Hocking Co Ohio by abt 1805, as per early census records and Keffer family research. According to church records, and the research of Lee Arnold of William's Lake, BC Canada, and others, they had the following children:

Joseph or Frederick Joseph Huber b Aug 25, 1802, as per baptismal record of the Trinity German Reformed / Evangelical Lutheran Church, witnessed by Jacob "Hubert" & wife (there was no Hubert family living in Berlin or attending the German Reformed Church during this time period, so this must be a transcription error and should read "Huber") m Margaret Unknown. Listed 1850 Hocking Co OH census near Valentine Huber & his family; Joseph named his son Valentine Huber b abt 1831 died aft 1880, Coles Co IL; daughters Jemimah Huber b abt 1834 and Delilah Huber b abt 1844, others?

Valentine Keffer b Oct 6, 1777 PA; m Catherine Zeiger, lived Pickaway Co Ohio, in census up to 1850. Fought in the war of 1812.

VALENTINE KEFFER may have accompanied WILLIAM WILHEM HUBER & ANNA ELIZABETH KEFFER HUBER to Ohio when they went there around 1805 or 1806. The other two sons MICHAEL KEFFER & JOHANN JACOB Jr KEFFER and the mother ANNA MARIA NASS KEFFER moved to Ontario, Canada sometime after the father JOHANN JACOB KEFFER Sr. died in 1802. They can be found in records there.

The family's surname appears as "Keffer" (sometimes "Keifer" or "Keefer") in almost all records, so I will use that spelling.

JOHANN JACOB KEFFER Sr & ANNA MARIA NASS KEFFER came to America in 1767 on the sailing vessel "Sally" , as per the research of Lee Arnold, Janet Foster and several others.

1779 Tax list, Brother's Valley twp Bedford (Somerset Co formed in 1795) Co PA; JOHANN JACOB KEFFER Sr does not appear in any Bedford Somerset Co PA tax list previous to 1779. His son MICHAEL KEFFER may have been in Turkeyfoot twp, Bedford/Somerset Co PA in 1776.

Settled in Brother's Valley twp, Bedford/Somerset Co PA and was the founder of the town of Berlin, PA, as per numerous sources, on July 27, 1784.

Listed in the DAR Patriot Index as "Jacob Keefer" Pvt PA (1966 edition)

According to Somerset Co land records, JOHANN JACOB KEFFER Sr owned two tracts of land, "Pious Springs" (half of which he deeded to Jacob Glessner in 1789 for the use of the Evangelical Reformed and Evangelical Lutheran Congregation and their school), and "Troublesome" listed as 390 1/2 acres, purchased 1784.

"The supreme council of Pennsylvania granted to JACOB KEFFER (in trust) for the Calvinistic and Lutheran congregations, for the support of schools, forty acres of land at the headwaters of Stony Creek, where the Lutherans and Calvinists had laid out a town called Berlin. "

"These settlers finally decided to form the first town, Berlin, in 1778. They gathered at Pine Hill and planned out the town. However, after much festivities, one of the young men was accidentally killed during a horse race. The town's formation was put off - until JACOB KEFFER decided to try to organize a town later."

ABRAHAM CABLE, GEORGE JOHNSON, HENRY GIESEY**

**(This is REVEREND HENRY GIESE who emigrated from Germany in about 1776, and was previous to 1794 pastor of the German Reformed / Evangelical Lutheran Church of Loudon Co VA; later he became pastor of several German Reformed/ Evangelical Lutheran congregations in Bedford and Somerset co PA, including Glade Reformed Church, Somerset Co PA 1812-1833. His son VALENTINE GIES/GIESE/GIESEY witnessed the baptismal record of WILLIAM WILHELM HUBER's son, VALENTINE HUBER b May 12, 1805 Berlin, Somerset Co PA, see above. A biography of Reverend Henry Geise / Geisey follows at end of this Huber section, see 2) NOTE below).

Could be one other signature in the witness section, but it has faded.

The estate inventory is quite lengthy, as is the list of debts owed. Here are the names transcribed from the original, a veritable who's who of Berlin, Somerset Co. PA in 1800:

JOHN FLETCHER, WILLIAM FOGEL, JACOB GOOD, DR. JOHN KIMMEL, REV H GIESE (spelled "GIESEY" and "GIESIE" several places in the document), CASPER KIEFER (for coffin), ADAM STATT or STALL, LUDWIG BAKER, BALTHUS PERKENHILL or PERKENHITE, JACOB KEFFER Jr, JACOB SCHWARTZ, CHRIST. MYER, ROBERT PHILM (sp? prob PHILSON), GEORGE WITT, FREDRICH WELLER, ABRAHAM CABLE, ADAM MILLER, CHRISTIAN FISHER, JACOB LOWRY, GEORGE SCHWARTZ, GEORGE MANDEL, SAMUEL (illegible surname), MORGAN J. RHEES Register & Clerk of Orphans.

JOHN FLETCHER and LUDWIG BAKER performed the estate inventory. WILLIAM / WILHELM HUBER signed the estate inventory.

JACOB HUBER Sr owned a great deal of land in Berlin and lots of livestock and household items are listed on the estate inventory. He would have been considered quite wealthy for the time period in which he lived.

The only known child of JACOB HUBER Sr and MAGDALENA UNKNOWN was

William Wilhelm Huber b abt 1776-1779 VA? PA? MD? moved with father JACOB HUBER Senior to Brother's Valley Twp Somerset Co PA where William married Anna Elizabeth Keffer in about 1798. In 1800 Berlin, Somerset Co PA census, young couple with one infant daughter. Migrated to Ross Co OH abt 1805-1807, which part later became Hocking Co OH. WILLIAM WILHELM HUBER died 1836 Hocking Co Ohio, as per his will, see above. He signed his will "Wilhelm Huber", and also signed his father's estate inventory record "Wilhelm Huber". The two signatures were clearly made by the same person.

1) NOTE JACOB HUBER Sr may have had a brother JOHN HUBER / HOOVER / HOVER Sr who was living in Brother's Valley twp, Bedford/Somerset Co PA from 1776 onward. They appear in the 1800 Berlin, Somerset Co PA census, which shows them both as over 45 years old, married to an spouse over 45 years old, no children in household.

Neither my proven ancestor JACOB HUBER Sr nor this JOHN HUBER Sr are related to CASPER HOOVER / HUBER b abt 1740s-1750s who lived in Brother's Valley Township, Bedford/Somerset Co PA. This is as per the research of Richard A. Hayden, in his article in National Genealogical Society Quarterly Vol 91 #4, Dec 2003. However, CASPER HOOVER / HUBER did attend the same German Reformed church as JACOB HUBER Sr and JOHN HUBER Sr.

CASPER HOOVER / HUBER, son of MICHAEL HUBER who died 1789 Air / Ayr township Bedford Co PA, did have a brother JOHN HOOVER / HUBER, who can be traced in Air / Ayr township records concurrent with Brother's Valley township records for the "other" JOHN HUBER Sr who is listed in the 1800 Berlin, Somerset Co PA census. Clearly the two John Hubers were two different people.

2) NOTE: I am including here a biography of REVEREND HENRY GIESE / GIES / GIESEY sent to me by Alf H.Giese of Germany: Clearly Rev Henry Giesey was close to the JACOB HUBER Sr family of Berlin Somerset Co PA, if only as the pastor of their church. More research to come.

HENRY GIESE (Johann Henrich Giesse / Gieße) was born in the village of Hessisch Lichtenau, upper Saxony, Hessen  Germany, on April 13, 1757 (1755). He was the 2nd of eleven children born to his parents Heinrich Gieße, Cantor at Hessisch Lichtenau and Martha Elisabeth (Heydolph). At an early age he was sent to Hersfeld where he attended the gymasium as had his father and grandfather , Paul, and with him his younger brother, Johann Friedrich, where he remained six years, and subsequently spent two years at the university of Marburg studying theology. After him, Johann Friedrich also studied theology at Marburg and later on became a very famous church man - Bishop of the reformed Church in Hessen Nassau.

He came to America in 1776, and remained in and near New York about four years. He then went to Norfolk and York, in Virginia, where he spent a short time. In 1782 he came to Fredericktown, Md, intending to return to his native country; but, becoming aquainted with the Revs. Krug and Henop, who urged upon him the destitute condition of the church, and the great need of ministers, as a reason why he should desist from his purpose, he was prevailed upon to remain in this country. In compliance with their solicitations, he visited and preached to several congregations in Virginia, namely Short Hill, Goose Creek, and one at the South Mountain.

In 1782 or 1783 he made application on the Coetus of the German Reformed Church, for ordination; and in accordance with a resolution of that body, he was subsequently ordained, in Virginia. At that time he resided in Frederick Co, Md.; but soon after his ordination, he removed to Loudon Co., Va. The congregations regularly served by him, were German Settlement (Lovettsville), Short Hill, and Goose Creek Congregations. He also made occasional visits to other places, as, Winchester, Staunton, Lexington, Pigot Mountain, and Frieden´s church. He served this charge about twelve years; and as, during that time, a number of the members had removed to Bedford, and Friend`s Cove, in Bedford Co., Pa., he, at their urgent request, paid them a visit. At the same time, he also visited Berlin, in Somerset Co., where he received a call; and, in compliance with the wish of the people and the earnest solicitations of his ministerial brethren, he at length took charge of the district  comprising, the congregations of Berlin, Salisbury, and Samuel´s church, and also Bedford, which last place he served for the space of three years.

He entered upon his duties in this extensive fied - then comperatively new and thinly settled - sometime in the fall of 1794. His first baptisonal entry bears date April 26, 1795. During his ministry here, he organized congregations in Stoystown, Gideon´s, Stony Creek, Heuman`s, now Wellersburg, and also made frequent visits to Westmoreland and Fayette counties.

After having traversed this wide section of country for the space of thirty-eight years, he resigned his charge, in consequence of increasing bodily infirmities, in 1833. Gradually sinking under the pressure of years, he closed his earthly career on March 24, 1845, aged 88 years, 11 months and 11 days. He is buried at Berlin. On his tombstone is the following stanza:

"His shepherd crook he laid aside,
                                      His pleasures and employ;
And he who long a flock did guide,
We trust now feeds with joy."

3) NOTE: ADAM HOOVER / HUBER / HOVER b 1740s-1750s and his wife ELIZABETH were also living in Brother's Valley township, Bedford/Somerset Co PA during the 1770s-1780s. They were members of the same German Reformed / Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berlin, Bedford/Somerset Co PA as JACOB HUBER Sr and JOHN HUBER Sr. At this time I am still researching this individual, and I suspect he may be in some way related to JACOB HUBER Sr or JOHN HUBER Sr. He is not in any way related to CASPER HOOVER / HUBER of Brother's Valley township, Bedford/Somerset Co PA, or Casper's father MICHAEL HUBER of Air / Air township, Bedford Co PA, as per the research of Richard A. Hayden, NGS Quarterly Dec 2003 article cited above.

FRAZIER FAMILY

Great grandmother CAROLINE AMELIA "CRAMELIA" FRAZIER's father was ELI BRANSON FRAZIER born Jan 17 1826 in Guilford North Carolina, and her mother was NANCY VAN ARSDALE born March 31 1828 IN, daughter of SIMON VAN ARSDALE and NANCY WALKER both born about 1790, who married Sept 1814 in Corydon, Harrison Co IN.

Nancy's entire family except for two other sisters died in the 1832 cholera epidemic when Nancy was two; and later she became a "bound out" girl. For more info on this, click on the link below. NOTE AS OF FEB 2007 I HAVE TRACED THE VAN ARSDALE FAMILY BACK TO THE NETHERLANDS IN 1600s. See my Rootsweb Worldconnect Online family tree database huberfrazier2 for more information.

A will & estate document has recently surfaced which indicates that SIMON VAN ARSDALE actually may have died in 1828 Harrison Co IN, before the cholera epidemic. Click on link below for a transcription of these documents.

ELI BRANSON FRAZIER was likely named after Eli Branson b 1776 d 1818 Chatham Co NC, son of Levi Branson & Mary Maynor who were members of the Cane Creek Quaker MM in what is now Union Co SC, but was part of NC at that time. In about 1839, when ELI was a boy about ten years old, his entire family moved with their Quaker congregation to Indiana, this according to Westfield Monthly Meeting, Hamilton Co IN Records, see HENRY FRAZER section below.

CENSUS RECORDS FOR ELI BRANSON FRAZIER:

1850 Boone Co IN census, Sugar Creek twp with wife and children
1860 Boone co IN census, Sugar Creek twp with wife and children
1870 Boone Co IN census, Sugar Creek twp, Elizaville P.O. with wife and children

The family moved from Boone Co IN to Bangor, Marshall Co Iowa in 1870, and ELI died there in 1871. He is buried Bangor Friend's Church Cemetary, Bangor, IA. His grave is at the foot of his wife's grave, but his stone is down & barely readable.

ELI's occupation according to census records was tanner.

Paul Steinbach has noted that his wife's grandmother Julia Ann Frazier indicated that her father ELI BRANSON FRAZIER fought for a short time during the Civil War, despite his Quaker faith. He may have been part of the 115th Regiment of the Indiana Infantry, which was only together for about 6 months Aug 1863 to Feb 1864. More research to come

ELI BRANSON FRAZIER and NANCY VAN ARSDALE were married May 20 1847 in Thornton, Boone Co, IN. They were Quakers and attended the Bangor Friends Church when they moved from Indiana to Iowa. Both are buried in the Bangor Friends cemetery. Eli and Nancy had these children:

Caroline Amelia "Cramelia" Frazier born April 9, 1848 Thornton Boone co IN married Phillip L Huber 1869, then Peter Clow 1895. She died 1937 Marshalltown, Iowa and is buried Bangor Friends Cemetery, Bangor Marshall Co, Iowa.

Jasper Newton Frazier born Dec 24 1856 Thornton IN married Hannah McDaniel

Mary Oleva Frazier born March 1, 1859 Thornton IN married Will Miller

Alice Blanche Frazier born 1862 Thornton IN died in childhood (accidental) date?

Julia Ann Frazier born Feb 1, 1865 Thornton IN married Albert Way

HENRY and MARY "Polly" OTWELL FRAZIER: Pioneer family IN and IA

Great x 3 grandfather HENRY FRAZER'S father was ISAAC FRAZIER born Jan 16 1763 Guilford NC and his mother was REBECCA SAFERIGHT born 1765 Orange Co NC daughter of HENRY & NANCY or NANNIE SAFERIGHT (Sigfrit? Siegfried?Sigfried?). HENRY was likely a German Quaker, as all of his children married Quakers in Guilford, NC. ISAAC & REBECCA are mentioned in the 1802 will of HENRY SAFERIGHT/SIGFRIED:

1802 Guilford Co NC WILL of HENRY SAFERIGHT: Henry names his son John and daughters Catherine, Mary, and Neomi. The executors are William and John Hodgson and the witnesses are Isaac Frazer and Rebeckah Frazer. In Vol. III of the 1802 Court Estate Records he is listed as Henry Saferight with executors William and John Hodson and witnesses Isaac Frazier and Rebecca Frazier. This links the name spellings to the same man. Also, in the "Index to Deceased Guilford Co., NC Court Records" August 1781 - February 1811,Henry is listed as Henry Saferight.

ISAAC FRAZIER and REBECCA SAFERIGHT were married abt 1785 in Orange or Guilford Co NC; Names of his children and their spouses as per 1898  & 1904 letter from Ann M. Frazier Way, a descendent. ISAAC FRAZIER was originally a Quaker, but was apparently shunned by the church for a time for operating a distillery in NC:

"Thou wanted to know the occupation of our Ancestors.  I think the men were mostly farmers and the women domestic housekeepers. My grandfather , ISAAC FRAZIER, was a blacksmith, as were also some of his nephews.  He had a distillery in his younger days which was looked upon with more favor than in these days, and made his own whiskey and brandy, Quaker as he was, and indulged in their use until he became a drunkard and went blind.  He was taken to Dr Mendinhall in Jamestown to be doctored, and while shut up in a dark room  was converted and never tasted another drop of intoxicants, not even cider, after it had worked, and died a Christian"
Excerpt, 1904 letter by Ann M. Frazier Way

Can be found in the following census:

1790 Guilford Co NC census

1800 Salisbury twp, Guilford Co NC near brother in law John Saferight, wife's parents living with John?

1802 Guilford Co NC Will of Henry Saferight: Henry names his son John and daughters Catherine, Mary, and Neomi. The executors are William and John Hodgson and the witnesses are Isaac Frazer and Rebeckah Frazer.

1804 Center Quaker MM Guilford Co NC shows Ann Frazier, daughter of Isaac & Rebecca, marrying Isaac Hodson.

1810 Greensboro, Guilford Co NC census (difficult to read)

1820 Guilford Co NC census (difficult to read)

1830 West River, Randolph Co IN, male age 60-70 in household of son Henry Frazer (another Isaac Frazier was living in Guilford Co NC in 1830, but that person was younger and probably from a different branch of the family).

1840 Washington twp, Hamilton Co IN, male age 70-80, in household of son Henry Frazer

1844 Westfield MM Hamilton Co IN, granted certificate for HENRY FRAZER & Family, and ISAAC FRAZIER to move to Sugar Plains MM, Boone Co IN.

Death date & place as per a post on a genealogy forum; I have not been able to verifiy it as yet myself. One source says Fulton Co IN; another says Boone Co IN.

ISAAC FRAZIER and REBECCA SAFERIGHT had these children:

Ann "Nannie" Frazier born 1784 Guilford NC m Isaac Hodson

Mary Frazier born 1786 Guilford NC m William Hodson

Isaac Frazier born 1790 Guilford NC died 1798 age 8 years

Naomi "Amy" Frazier born Dec 29 1790 Guilford, NC m Benjamin Wheeler

Henry Frazier/ Frazer born Aug 19,1793 Randolph Co? NC m. Mary Polly Otwell

Jennifer Taylor's page on Henry Saferight (Heinrich Sigfried) b. 1743

Great x 4 grandfather ISAAC FRAZIER'S father was THOMAS ( NOT "GEORGE THOMAS") FRAZIER born 1725 place unknown. His wife was MARY Unknown born abt 1728, possibly (unverified) daughter of THOMAS & ELIZABETH (Richardson) PUGH, who moved from Chester Co PA to NC. New information from the Westfield Quaker Monthly Meeting in Hamilton Co IN indicates that the parents of my ancestor ISAAC FRAZIER b Jan 19, 1763 were THOMAS & MARY FRAZIER (not GEORGE THOMAS FRAZIER). Previously, all information on ISAAC's parents came to me through the writings of Ann M. Frazier Way, also a descendant of ISAAC FRAZIER & REBECCA SAFERIGHT.

I still suspect that ISAAC's father THOMAS FRAZIER, may have been the son of JOHN FRAZIER b abt 1680s prob Scotland who died 1744 Carteret Co NC, and MARY FALCONER b 1680s-1690s, daughter of JOHN FALCONER b 1660s-1670s prob Scotland, and SARAH Unknown. The FALCONERS of Bath/Craven/Carteret Co NC were likely Quaker; the book "Scottish Quakers of Early America 1650-1700" by David Dobson lists several with the FALCONER surname who emigrated from Scotland in the late 1600s to the Scottish Quaker settlement of Perth Amboy, NJ. (No Fraziers/Frazers, unfortunately!). Also, a JOHN FALCONER/FALKONER, possibly MARY's father, is listed as an immigrant to Bath Co NC in the early 1700s. More research to come!

Children of THOMAS FRAZIER & MARY unknown. Most of their alleged children married Quakers and maintained that religion:

George Frazier born 1751 Orange Co ? NC, died TN; m Jane Grimes (not Quakers??) Children born 1770s-1780s: David Frazier m Sarah Hays, Cyrus Frazier m Elizabeth Beeson, Martha Frazier m Edmund Hays, George Jr Frazier m Sarah Russell, Thomas Frazier m Mary White, Nancy Ann Frazier m Thomas Russell, poss 2nd) to David Frazier, Elizabeth Frazier m John Russell, John Frazier m Jemima Ledford, William Frazier m Zelpha Hays, Josiah Frazier died young, Samuel Frazier died young?, Jane Frazier m Elias Hays, Mary Polly Frazier m Enoch Swafford.

Isaac Frazier born Jan 19, 1763 Orange Co ? NC died before 1850 Indiana; m REBECCA SAFERIGHT, daughter of Henry Saferight & Ann "Nannie" Unknown who were likely German Quakers. Isaac & Rebecca also Quaker, attended Center MM, Guilford, NC as per marriage record of their daughter Ann "Nannie" Frazier. Migrated to Randolph & Boone Co Indiana. Children: Ann "Nannie" Frazier m Isaac Hodson, Mary Frazier m William Hodson, Isaac Jr Frazier died young, Naomi "Amy" Frazier m Benjamin Wheeler, Henry Frazer/Frazier m Mary Polly Otwell (granddaughter of William Reynolds II mentioned above)

Francis Henry Frazier born 1766 Orange Co ? NC m. Elizabeth Betsey Stanley. Quakers, attended Cane Creek MM now in Union Co SC; 1799 moved to Center MM Guilford NC. Migrated to Ohio and Indiana.
