WILLIAM BOLTON b abt 1680 Londonderry, Ulster Province,
N. Ireland, son of James Bolton & Margaret unknown;
of Scotch Irish origin; came to America on board the ship "William"
mastered by Archibald Hunter, arriving Boston in Aug 1718; settled
in Andover, Essex Co MA, where in 1718 he and another young man
last name Stuart were told to leave the township; must have not
heeded that advice, for he married Elizabeth WHITE daughter of
John & Sarah WHITE, on Jan 5 1720 in Andover Essex Co MA,
and lived there for a short while, moving thereafter to Reading
Middlesex Co MA. In 1720 William was pressed into service in the
British Army; apparently many of the new "recruits"
deserted, not known if William was one of them. He was arrested
& jailed in Marblehead MA for lack of proof of furlough or
discharge. He was very poor, ill and prone to lameness, and charges
were dismissed as he could not pay court or prison fees. He returned
to Reading, where he and wife Elizabeth had two sons; William
Bolton Jr b 1721 and John Bolton b 1724; John apparently died
w/o issue, on a military expedition to Cape Breton Nova Scotia
Canada. William BOLTON Sr died Sept 10, 1725 in Reading Middlesex

THOMAS MILLETT b abt 1605 Chertsey, Surry Co, England; d June 3, 1676 in Brookfield, MA; lived Dorchester Suffolk Co MA, and Gloucester, Essex Co MA; m Mary GREENAWAY. Their daughter Mehitable Millett married Isaac Elwell, see above
Thomas Millett & his wife Mary Greenaway came to Massachusetts Colony in 1635, sailing from the port of London on the ship, "Elizabeth". His wife's sister Ursula Greenaway was also on the passenger list. Thomas Millett first settled in Dorchester, MA. He and his wife joined the church soon after 23 Aug. 1636. On 17 May 1637 he became a freeman. After living 20 years in Dorchester, Thomas Millett moved to Gloucester, Essex Co MA where he became a Teaching Elder of the First Church. On Oct. 4, 1650 Thomas purchased from William Perkins , who had been a Teaching Elder there, all his property and also succeeded him in his religious offices: "I William Perkins of Topsfield in consideration of forty pounds... sell... Mr. Thomas Millet of Gloster... that tenement which I the sayd William was at the wrighting hereof possest of in the towne of Gloster... my dwelling house..."
From the land records it may be seen that Mr. Thomas Millett sold off his Dorchester lands in 1666 after acquiring in 1655 a house and land in Gloucester.
Sometime between 1673 and June 1675 Thomas went to Brookfield where he and his wife were living 3 June 1675 when they consented to the sale of the house and land on Town Neck in Gloucester it having been sold by their son Nathaniel 9 Nov. 1674 to Francis Norwood.
Thomas Millett died between June and Sept. 1675. In Sept. 1675 the court files mention him as dying intestate with the administration of his estate being granted to the widow and relict Mary Millett and in Sept. 1676 the same appointment is repeated. It seems possible that he perished when Brookfield was destroyed during King Philip's War and may have been killed by the Indians.

JOHN GREENAWAY b abt 1576 England, died abt 1650 Dorchester, Suffolk Co MA; m Mary Unknown. Parents of Mary GREENAWAY who married Thomas MILLETT, above.
"John and Mary Greenaway or Grenoway--there were various spellings of the name--by one of those strange coincidences of nomenclature, came over in the good ship 'Mary and John', a vessel of 400 tons. This ship, which was a very large one for the time, sailed from Plymouth, Eng., and was the first of the fleet to reach the Massachusetts coast in the great Puritan migration of 1630. After a passage of 70 days she arrived off Nantasket Point, now Hull, on May 30, old style, two weeks before Governor Winthrop arrived off Salem. From one of the passengers we learn that "the word of God was preached and expounded every day during the voyage. The number of passengers was 140." A day or two later the passengers and their "famished cattle" were landed at Rock Hill (Savin Hill), Dorchester. This was more than three months before the founding of Boston proper, which by the present style of dates was September 17, 1630.
"John Greenaway was past the prime of
life when he came to the new country. 'He was a millwright by
trade and was much respected by his fellow townsmen,' according
to the 'History of the Town of Dorchester.' He was the first person
admitted a freeman in that town. "

CORDELIA RICKARD b 1830 Kenwyn Parish, Redruth,
Cornwall, England, d Jan 1875 Sacramento, CA; daughter of RICHARD
RICKARD b abt 1792 & CORDELIA HICKS (daughter of Mark HICKS
and Mary GILL), of Kenwyn Parish, Redruth, Cornwall, England.
The family lived at Redruth, Chacewater and Blackwater, and father's
occupation was noted in parish records to be "victualer"
or "innkeeper". Richard Rickard died in 1835 as per
parish records. Cordelia Rickard b 1830 is listed in the 1841
Cornwall England census with her widowed mother Cordelia and several
siblings. Most of the family emigrated July 28, 1845 as per Ship
passenger manifesto, "Henry Clay" departing Liverpool,
with Cordelia Rickard age 47 widow; Joseph Rickard son age 22
mechanic; Cordelia Rickard daughter age 13, Henry Rickard son
age 10. Children on the ship's manifest
match the youngest children listed on the 1841 Cornwall census.
Apparently they arrived in New York City. Another brother, Richard
Rickard Jr, emigrated later, and moved to Grant Co Wisconsin to
work as a miner. Both Richard Rickard Jr and Cordelia Rickard
b 1830 are listed in the 1850 Platteville, Grant Co WI census,
living very near each other.Cordelia's first marriage was in 1850
Grant Co WI to HENRY WILLIAM F. MYERS, a merchant, born in Germany;
they likely came across country via land route (wagon train?)
to California 1851-52 . Henry Myers died along the way, or they
were divorced upon reaching California. Her only child by first
marriage was Emma J Myers b 1850, apparently named after Cordelia's
older sister in Cornwall. Her second marriage was in 1857 to HENRY
"NEW HAMPSHIRE" BROWN in Sacramento; only surviving
children by her second marriage were Frank Ricard Brown b Feb
5, 1858 Sacramento CA, and Phebe Cordelia Brown b April 1868,
Folsom, Sacramento Co CA. The family lived at Salmon Falls in
Eldorado Co CA, and at Folsom and Sacramento, CA. Cordelia died
in 1875 at age 45, possibly of tuberculosis. She may have had
relatives living in Boston, as per her obituary. Surname also
spelled Ricard and Richard or Richards in records. Here is a recently
discovered photograph of Cordelia Rickard Myers Brown circa about
1860.

JOHN RINES b
abt 1720s-1730s was said to have been a soldier from Massachusetts
during the 1755 removal of the French Acadians from Nova Scotia,
and that he married there and decided to stay. He married ELIZABETH
TOAL, and they settled in Maitland, Hants Co Nova Scotia. "France was the first foreign
nation to colonize the land; they called it Acadia. The Acadians
settled here into a quiet farming life on the fertile lands around,
planting fruit trees and building dykes. Some of these dykes can
still be seen today. The first settler in the surroundings of
Maitland after the expulsion of the Acadians was John Ranes (later
called Rines) from Massachusetts. His first house was on this
side of the foundry site, built over an old French cellar. Later
he built another house opposite the 'spring'. "
