Although we had hoped to be able to trace him back to a American patriot, we found that he fought on the side of England in the War of Independence. He died at the age of only 19 after marrying Martha "Patsy" Strother and fathering one son, Little Berry Thompson who was born in 1780 shortly before Amos was killed." Martha's ancestral file indicates she was the daughter of John Strother and Jean (Jane) Fussell. Martha married Amos Thompson about 1780 in Suffolk County, Virginia. After Amos' death in the War, she married Mark Stroud in January 1784 in Suffolk County, Virginia. |
