This is part of a photographic image of the record
entry for the marriage of John Bridgham to Elizabeth Benedict, widow,
8 September 1629, at St Mary Church in Woolpit, Suffolk, England. The image is approximately actual size
and is high-lighted for clarity. Photo, 2003: R.A. Benedict
Woolpit St Mary Church is presumed to have been
built on the site of an earlier church built before the Norman Conquest. The church and Manor of Woolpit were given
by Ulfcytel, Earl of East Anglia, to the Abbey of St Edmund in 1005. A more substantial building was constructed in
1087. Much of the present ediface, shown in this drawing, dates from the 14th century.
