DONALD CHAPMAN KILLED IN CAR CRASHFORMER RESIDENT KILLED IN CONN. Details of Tragedy Are Not Known Word was received In thle city today of the death in an automobile accident on Friday at Stafford Springs Conn. a village about two miles from Springfield Mass. Donald Chapman, son of the late Dr. and Mrs Eugene A. Chapman. Dr. Chapman was a former county clerk| of Jefferson county and long a prominent physican of Watertown Henderson and Belleville. The details of the young man's death have not been received here but according to telegrams received by relatives and friends in the city, the body will arrive in Belleville Sunday morning and burial will be made in the cemetery there. The family resided at 130 Flower avenue east while in this city and maintained their home here until after the death of Dr. Chapman several years ago. After the death of his father, with, his mother, he removed to Stafford Springs, where he had since resided. Dr. Eugene Chapman, father of the young man, was well
known in this city where he served as County Clerk for about six years.He
was Dr. Chapman then was married to Miss Agnes McClure of Belleville, a teacher of music in Belleville Union Academy. After engaging In the practice of medicine for a short time, he retired by reason of ill health and removed to Salamancs. Latter he returned and then located at Belleville, where
his son. Donald, was born. While a resident of Belleville, Dr. Chapman
served as supervisor from the town of Ellisburg and reengaged In medicine.
He continued his active practice for nearly a quarter century and in 1900
was Donald Chapman was about 30 years of age at the time of his death. He is well remembered by residents of Watertown who recalled him as a youth. He attended school tn this city until the removal of the family to Connecticut following the father's death. The body will be brought to Ellisbug on Sunday and interment will be made la the family plot in Woodside cemetery, located about three quarters of a mile outside of the village. It will arrive at Adams on the morning train from New York and will there be met by a local undertaker who will take it to the cemetery for burial. Prayers will be conducted at the grave by the pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church in Belleville. The body will be accompanied by Mrs. Agnes Chapman, his mother, and Dr. Ross Chapman his brother,who is a practicing physician, in a suburb of Washington. D. C. A sister. Mrs. Richard H. Valentine, who resides in Stafford Springs, was unable to accompany the body to Belleville. Besides Donald and Dr. Rosa Chapman, two other sons were born to Dr. and Mrs. Chapman. One, William, died during the typhoid fever epidemic In 1903. and the other. Sanford, died later of typhoid while residing In Detroit. The late Dr. Chapman was a first; cousin of Attorney Arthur C. Chapman of this city. Two other cousins now reside in Belleville. They are Henry Chapman and Mrs. Carrie Doane. Article as it appeared in the Watertown
