In Normandy during the Battle of the Buldge his tank was hit by German fire he was wounded and all the other tank crew were killed. He was a POW and he earned the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He belonged to the Hudson
Valley POW chapter and Chapter 16 of the Disabled American Veterans. He attended the Most Holy Trinity Grade School and Saunders Trades and Technical School.
Robert was married on 15 Sep 1940 to Olga Kushwara at Most Holy Trinity RC Church, Yonkers, NY.
Olga worked as a seamstress.
