Bill Barker has compiled a large amount of information about Montgomeryshire families from a number of sources, and has put this information together on a CD called "Families of Montgomeryshire, Wales 1675 to 1825". In April, 2001, a new release, version 4, of my CD book on Welsh genealogy "Families of Montgomeryshire, Wales 1675 to 1825" was completed. The April 2001 release has about a ten percent increase in genealogical material, compared to the November 1998 version. It also has a new section of my partial transcription of about 1,000 pages of Montgomeryshire parish records of births, deaths, and marriages (mostly from LDS films of bishops transcripts from Montgomeryshire parishes in the period 1670 to 1837). The book "Families of Montgomeryshire, Wales 1675 to 1825", a genealogical compendium by William V.H. Barker, is available recorded on Compact Disk (CD) for IBM-compatible PC and Apple Macintosh home computers.
The book on CD contains an introduction file, a contents file, and about 556 files on major families and other individuals (by parish in Montgomeryshire). The CD files. which are meant to be read by the user's word processing software, are in Microsoft's Rich Text Format (files have ".RTF" extension and can be read by Microsoft Works, Microsoft Word, and most other word processors). At present (April 2001) the book on CD is the equivalent of about 4,613 pages typewritten.
No paper printout is supplied with the CD; it being left to the user to print desired portions for themselves. The author is continuing to add results from current research to this book and would welcome submissions of ancestry findings for future revisions of the Montgomeryshire Families genealogies .
