John Wesley Shores, the son of Alfred and Almirinda Shores, was born December 20, 1882 at White Rock, Franklin County, Arkansas. On July 30, 1902, he married Permilia Maud Fisher in Franklin County Arkansas.

John professed a hope in Christ in 1916 at the home of John Crabtree, White Rock Arkansas. He united with the Regular Baptist Church, at Bixby Oklahoma and followed his Lord in baptism on September 3, 1916. He lived a faithful member until death.

John died August 7, 1944 at age 61 years 8 months and 12 days. He leaves his wife, Maud and children, Jim, Monte, Bonnie, Opal and Faye. His sons Thomas and Ray preceded him in death. He had 6 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 half-sisters, 1 half brother, 15 grandchildren and a host of friends.

His funeral was preached by John Crabtree. Pallbearers, W. E. Adelman, J. L. Saker, J. T. Dobson, W. A. Hagaman and W. E. Bradley.
