Update 20 Jan 2007:
Having found his marriage certificate, his Date of Birth, previously confirmed from the 1881 census, is in question. Marriage certificate suggests he was born 1837.

Due to the kind help of members of RootsChat, and particularly Bill Beer, 12/06/2007 saw the finding of John Beach and Ann Beach's joint grave (along with their son George Henry Beach) in St Andrews Churchyard, Dover. Sadly the grave has not been well looked after (photos provided by Bill are below).

Anne Boulton (possibly spelt Bolton) b. 31 January 1840 d. 1 June 1910

I believe I may have just found the marriage record for Ann and John, marrying at Uttoxeter (where their first child was born a year later):

Believed to be born of a Yorkshire Biscuit maker (family rumour).

Update 20 Jan 2007:
Marriage certificate confirms he was born of another John Beach, who was a Tailor...the family myth over Biscuit Maker looks to be false!
