Note: David Dinwiddie wrote (27 July 1866): "... the maiden name of my present wife is Emily HONEY, born at Chicacole on 28th September 1835."
Madras Records show Emily HONEY married Christopher DELAHOYDE in 1850. Emily had at least three sons and one daughter from this marriage. She was a widow when she married David Dinwiddie in 1864.
Mary Jane Dinwiddie, in a letter to her Aunt Ann (30 September 1865) says that after returning from Burma in March 1863 "we were with my Cousin (now my Mama) for two months". Also, "....Papa married my Cousin, Mrs Delahoyde."
David Dinwiddie wrote (27 July 1866): "On 30 March 1864, your Uncle David thought proper to take unto himself a second wife; a widow with four orphans!!! The widow was a Cousin to your Uncle David by marriage..."
