Note: His relationship to Rebecca (daughter?) not proven. However, the name of his proven daughter, Lydia, is a 'family name'. Also, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary is one of the places where the next two generations of Duncans lived, i.e. his grandchildren lived there (if indeed he was related).
Note: Lydia's relationship to Rebecca ROANE is not proven. However, Lydia was a family name. Furthermore, Robert DUNCAN, in his letter (in BD's possession) dated 13 March 1867, writes: "I and my poor wife feel very much for being situated as we are and only for the late Richard ELY we would now be in prosperous circumstances as he was the sole cause of our being deprived of our farm at Ballaghmore to secure it for himself which God did not let him enjoy long but I forgive him all the serious injury he did me."
Is it possible that this Richard ELY was the brother or son of George ELY, who married Lydia ROANE in 1780?
