FOOTNOTES:

Note:  In the beginning, the primary purpose of the New York state censuses, taken in the years of 1825, 1835, 1845, 1855, 1865, 1875, 1892, 1905, 1915 and 1925, was to keep track of the agricultural and manufacturing production of the population, not to keep track of individuals for taxation or voting purposes.  Not all of the census records have survived to the present day for all the counties of New York state.  The above record was copied in the summer of 1996 from the original census in the Yates County courthouse.
