Welcome to the Montgomery County Journal
A bit of History Montgomery County was taken from the territorial county of Saint Charles, lying north of the Missouri River and of the original county of Saint Louis. The territorial census of Saint Charles County included all of the inhabitants within the boundaries the present day Montgomery and Callaway Counties. These names had disappeared from the 1819 territorial census, by virture of the division of the counties. Montgomery County was formed December 14, 1818 and then Callaway County was taken from Montgomery November 25th, 1820
