Note: Allen R. Rigsby marries Barbara A Luker on 16 Jan 1878 They have 10 children ,9 that live.Allen Rigsby and family ( except James Allen Rigsby ) move to Mc lennan Co. Texas in 1905 and end up in Terrall, Texas. James R Rigsby is one of 7 children born to Allen Rigsby (b. 1807, d. 1870-1880) Allen Rigsby was married to Milleas Patterson ( b. 1812, d. after 1880) on 10 Nov. 1829 in Troup Co. Ga. 2 of their children are born in Ga. The family moves to Ala. 1840-1841, and the rest of the children are born in Clay Co. Ala. Allen Rigsby is the son of William Rigsby (b. c.1750 in N. C.) and Mary( last name unknown )She was b. 1774 ,in NC and died 1850-1860 in Troup Co Ga.Mary and William have 12 children,4 were born in N.C.And the other 8 were born in Ga. after the family came there in 1800. The Rigsbys first came to America in 1623 arriving at Buck/Brick Row, Va.The first was Thomas Rigsby and were in N.C. by the 1740-1750.The family came from outside of Alford, Lincolnshire, England and the first use of the name was by Herbert de Ryggsbi son of Albric THe name came from a manor that was given to Albric in 1067 by Thomas , Archbishop of York. The family held the manor untill the 1400s when it was given as a dowery of Olive Riggsby to her marriage to a Tothby .The name is of Danish org. meaning a dwelling on a ridge. The place names dates from the Danish occupation of the 11th century.
