In Probate Court [Erie County, OH] Be it Remembered, That on the (Twenty Sixth) day of (March) A.D. 187(9), came (August Wott) an alien, native of (Germany) a free white person, and proved to the satisfaction of the Court that he has made the requisite declaration of his intention to be NATURALIZED and become A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED STATES, that he was (22) years of age on (or about the 25th) day of (March) last past, that he first arrived in the United States in the month of (April) A.D. 18(65). That at the time he so arrived he had not attained the eighteenth year of his age, and also at the same time came (Solomon Brown) and being duly sworn, did depose and say, that the said (August Wott) has resided for (14) years last past in the United States, and he has resided one year last past in the State of Ohio, and that during all that time he has behaved as a man of good moral character, attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and well disposed to the good order and happiness of the same. AND THEREFORE, the said (August Wott) made solemn oath that he will support the Constitution of the United States, and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to every Foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Soverignty (sic), whatsoever, and particularly to (William Emperor of Germany) whose subject he was.
