[Genealogical and Family History of the County of Jefferson New York… (1905), vol. 1, pp. 322-325: “…William Gamble, was a native of New Hampshire, and had a family of thirteen children.  One of these, John Gamble, was born May 7, 1809, at Greenwich, Washington county, New York, and is now a resident of West Camden, this state, aged ninety-five years.  He came to that town when a young man, engaged in farming, and there married, January 12, 1836, Sophronia Curtis, a native of the town, daughter of Ambrose Curtis, who was born in Litchfield county, Connecticut.  Mrs. Sophronia Gamble was born April 17, 1815, in Camden, and passed away in April, 1903, at her home in West Camden.  John Wesley, eldest child of John and Sophronia Gamble, was born April 11, 1837, on his father’s farm, in the town of Florence, Oneida county, New York….He remained with his father until twenty years old, and then began his railroad career as assistant to his uncle, Leverett Munson, station agent at West Camden, and succeeded him in 1858….Here [Watertown] he was cut off in the opening of a most promising career, his death occurring May 2, 1870, at the age of thirty-three years….He was married January 11, 1859, to Mary Annis, daughter of Selden Munson, of West Camden….She now resides in Watertown….John Munson Gamble, second son and third child of John W. and Mary A. (Munson) Gamble, was born March 28, 1866, in West Camden….[description of career in paper manufacturing]….Mr. Gamble married, at Chicago, June 12, 1895, Miss Blanche E., daughter of James L. Chapman.  The children of the family are: Agnes Josephine, Mary Annis, Sarah Ethelwyn and John Wesley….James L. Chapman, father of Mrs. Gamble, is a native of Marcellus, New York, born January 26, 1829.  His wife, Agnes Josephine Barnes, was born at Altmar, this state, March 19, 1838, and is a cousin of Mary A., widow of John W. Gamble.  Agnes Josephine (Barnes) Chapman’s parents, Wilbert and Annis (Stanton) Barnes, were natives of Camden and the vicinity of Syracuse, respectively, the former a son of Manning Barnes.  Annis Stanton belonged to the noted family which furnished the secretary of war in President Lincoln’s cabinet.  James L. Chapman built the first tannery at Altmar, which he operated for a time.  For some time he was engaged in the hide and leather trade in Chicago, where he was a director of the First National Bank, founded by his uncle, Edward R. Aiken.  He now resides in southern California….The parents of James L. Chapman were Lincoln and Sarah (Reed) Chapman.  The mother of the later was a Cody…”  SAME, pp. 753-755: “Abel, eldest child of Joseph and Margery Munson, was born January 10, 1701, in Wallingford….He died February 13, 1779….He was married November 7, 1728, to Sarah Peck, who died September 22, 1775, aged sixty-three years….Levi, fifth of the fourteen children of Abel and Sarah (Peck) Munson, was born August 29, 1738, in Wallingford, and died in 1815, in Camden, New York….He was among those who marched from Branford at the Lexington alarm, April, 1775, and was subsequently a sergeant in Captain Douglass’ Company, Colonel Wooster’s Regiment.  He was among those captured near Montreal, September 25, 1775, and was taken to Falmouth, England, returning to Halifax June 21, 1776, and was subsequently exchanged….He was married November 27, 1760, to Mary Cooley, who died 1826, at the age of eighty-four years….Abel, seventh of the eight sons of Levi and Mary Munson, was born July 22, 1774, in Wallingford.  He was married February 11, 1798, to Lucy Osborn, of Waterbury, Connecticut, who died June 1, 1850.  He died October 12, 1831, in Camden….Selden, first of the seven children of Abel and Lucy Munson, was born June 2, 1799, in Windham, New York, and died January 22, 1873, at Watertown, New York….He was married May 4, 1825, to Amanda, daughter of Manning Barnes, who kept the first tavern at West Camden.  She died December 1, 1869…Mary Annis, second of three daughters, and third of five children of Selden and Amanda Munson, born January 16, 1836, became the wife of John Wesley Gamble…”]
