Letter by Eliza Catherine Mollard - Uren ‘My Grandmother’s maiden name was Elizabeth Bath sister of Henry Bath. She married Thomas Birchall. She had a son named Henry a daughter named Ellen and my Mother, Mary Birchall. There was a daughter named Elizabeth Catherine, she was considered the ‘Belle of Swansea’. I am not certain if she was a Birchall or a Sibbering for my grandmother was married twice, and had a son named Willie Sibbering, who I believe was delicate. When I was a child I went to Swansea with Mother and met most of the relatives. I stayed at Alltyferin before the big house was built’ My grandmother’s father James Mollard lived in a large house in Portreath, Cornwall. He had a fleet of ships and a railway ran past the house taking tin to the ships. Grandma Mollard said her father would oversee the operation with a telescope from the house.
