Will of Peter Corbin

In the name of God  Amen.

I, Peter Corbin, of Pendleton County, and State of South Carolina, being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of the body, and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and testament.  This is to say principally and first of all, I give and recommend my soul into the hand of the Almighty God that gave it and my body Recommend to the earth.  To be buried in a decent Christian burial, at the discretion of my Executors.  Nothing doubting but at the general resurrection.  I shall receive the same again by the almighty power of God, and as touching such worldly estate, wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life.  I give demise and bequeath the same in the way and manner following.  To wit,  first I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my dearly beloved wife, the full amount of all my estate and worldly goods, after the payment of all my just debts.  To be enjoyed and used by her, for and during the term of her life.  But, only excepting one horse, which my son, Samuel claims.  And one mare which my son John claims and two cows which Janoway Johnson owes me.  Which cows Samuel is to have one, and John one at their decision.  My whole estate is to be equally divided among my children.  That is Samuel, John, Judy, William, Sarah, Elijah, David, Elizabeth, Jesper, and James.  And I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friends John McClure and Charles Bowen my executors to this, my last will and testament.  Hoping they will take the same upon them, and I do hereby utterly  disallow, revoke, and annul all and every other testament, wills, legacies, bequest, and executors by me, in any wise before named will and bequeath, ratifying and confirming this my last will and testament.  In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventh day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninety four.
