Will of Jacob Miller
2 Jun 1808 Lincoln County, North Carolina
In the name of God Amen. I, Jacob Miller of the County of Lincoln and the State of North Carolina, am weak in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament in the following manner and form viz:
first I recomand my soul into the hands of God and my body to the earth to be buried in a Christian burial.
also I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Anna Mary two hundred dollars, a negro girl named Philis, two cows and the wheat, six spoons, six plates, one pewter bason, two white earthen basons, four knives, four forks, one tea kettle, one pewter tea pot and the teaware, one coffee pot, one copper kettle, one iron pott, one frying pan, one skillet, two beds and bedsteads, and all the linen and cotton cloth, one dresser that stands in corner of the back room of the house and the small table, one walnut chest, three chairs, four tin cups, two quart mucks. Said property she is to have during the term of her natural life and after her death to be sold and equally divided among all my children that will be named hereafter:
also I give and bequeath to my son Henry Miller the large Bible and the Shaidberger Himn book:
also I give and bequeath to my son Jacob Miller the young black mare two years old:
also I give and bequeath to my son in law Phillip Burns that is married to my daughter Anna fifty dollars to be paid out of my estate:
and all of my real and personal property that is not mentioned in this will shall be sold at publick sale and equally divided among all my children viz: Henry Miller, Jacob Miller, Phillip Miller and my daughters Anna that is married to Phillip Burns and Mary that is married to Conrad Hawn. They shall have equal shares:
and also I constitute my trusty friend John Yoder Executor to this my Last Will and Testament with full power and authority to make deeds of conveyance to person or persons that shall purchase the land at Publick Sale and hereby revoke disanul all other and former wills and testaments and declare this is to be my only will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this second day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eight.
Signed sealed pronounced and declared by the said Jacob Miller as his Last Will and Testament in the presence of us as witness
