Deed Book "W", Page 30, Greenville Co., SC - James T. Barrett sold to Massey A. Jackson on July 16, 1850 his claim to one twelfth part of the tract of land occupied by Reubin Barrett Esq., Dec., being the undivided but distributive share of John Barrett.
Since Reuben had twelve kids 1/12 would be John's share. James T. is a known son of my John and this deed is my main proof that my Hall Co., GA John is the same as the John in Reuben's family. I have Karen to thank for finding this record.I believe this same deed is also recorded in Hall Co., GA.
Janet, You are welcome to put any/all of this information on the Barrett web page.Deed Book 'O' Pages 338-339 Greenville Co., SC Georgia, Hall Co. this indenture made this --- day of November 1823 between John Barrett of the county and State afore said of the one part and James T Barrett of the same place of the other part witnesseth that the said John Barrett for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars to him in hand paid at and before sealing and delivering these present the Recipt where of is here by acknowledged hath Bargained Sold and conveyed and do by these present Grant bargin sell and conveyed unto the said James Barrett his heirs and assigners all that tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county of Greenville State of South Carolina the same being and lying on the head waters of South Tiger river of which Said tract is computed to one hundred and sixty five acres land be the same more or less begining on an ash joining Cary Jacksons land thence S 61 W to a conditional corner thence to a stake on H. Princes line thence S 30 Eto a conditional corner on widdow Adamses line thence a long Said line to a stake on Reubin Barretts old tract Thence N 70 W to a red oak corner thence N 35 W thence to a red oak N 69 E to a stake corner thence N 19 W to a stake corner N 61 E to a chestnut corner Thence to the begining corner to have and to hold said tract or parcell of land unto him the James T Barrett his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights members and appertanences there of to the same in any manner Belonging to his own proper use benefit and be held for ever in fee simple and the said john for himself his heirs Executors and administrators the said Bargained premises into said James T. Deed Book 'V' Pages 393 and 394 - Greenville Co., SC Know all men by these that I James T Barrett of the County of Lumpkin and State of Georgia for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by Larkin Cannon of greenville District and State of South Carolina the receipt which is hereby acknowledge have granted bargined sold and released unto the said Larkin Cannon all that tract or parcel of land Situated in the District of Greenville and State aforesaid on the waters of South Tiger River on Pax Mountain it being a tract of land originally granted to John Barrett. Beginning on a ash joining Princes land thence S 61 W o a conditional corner, thence to a stake on H B Prince line thence S 30 E to a stake on Prince line, thence along a Common line to a red oak on Reubin Barrett old line thence N 70 W to a red oak thence N 35 W to a red oak, thence N 69 E to a Stake, thence to a Stake, thence N 61 E to a Chestnut, thence to the beginning corner Containing One hundred and Sixty five acres more or less. Jackson of Greenville District in the State of South Carolina have Granted Bargained Sold and Released and by these present do Grant Bargain Sell and Release unto the said Massey A. Jackson all my rigth Title claim and Interest in and to one twelfth part of the tract of land occupied by Reubin Barrett Esq Decd lying and being situated in the District of Greenville and State of South Carolina on the waters of Camp Creeke the waters of South Tiger River being the undivided but distributive Share of John Barrett as will more fully appear by deed from John Barrett to myself recorded in Clerks Office of Greenville District bounded by Lands of George Dill David Jackson and others containing Five hundred Acres more or less. Together withe all and Singular the Rights Members hereditaments and appertenances to one twelfth part of the said premisy belonging or in anywise incident or appertaining to have and to hold all and Singular the premisy before mentioned with the said M A Jackson his heirs and assigns forever And I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever defend all and Singular the said interest unto said M A Jackson and his heirs and assigns against me and my heirs and against every other person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
