State of Georgia Hall County In the name of God Amen I John Barrett of Said State and County being of advanced age and knowing that I must Shortly depart this life deem it right and proper both as respects my family and myself that Should make a disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me I do therefore make this my last will and Testament.
Item I desire and direct that my body be buried in a decent and Christian like manner Suitable to my Circumstances and Condition in life My Soul I must Shall return to rest with God who gave it me
2 Item I give and bequeath to my loving Rebecca part of the land where I now live part of Lot One hundred and Sixty two and part of Lot One hundred and fifty Six The line to commence on the line of E C Barretts land near the Crop fence and down the hollow to the bottom thence Straight line to the mouth of the Branch that W M Barrett now lives thence up said branch
My wife Rebecca to have her Support on Said land her life time and F A Barrett to have the privilige to live and Cultivate the Said land and at the death of my wife F A Barrett to have the above described land in fee Simple to do as he pleases after the death of my wife Rebecca
The South part of Said land The North part to be equally divided between E C Barrett and W M Barrett all land where I now live Also my wife Rebecca and F A Barrett to have all my Stock of Cattle and hogs together with all my household and kitchen furniture an bees and plantation tools and Buggy and my son F A Barrett to have his Choice of my Horses at my death. My wife to have one negroe girl named Polly about ten years of age to do with as She pleases at her death. Also give my wife all the corn and meats that I possess at my death
All this I give in Lieu of her Dower The Balance of my property I give and bequeath in the following manner To James T Barrett and Reuben Barrett C A Barrett John R Barrett Sen and Sally Pitman and Martha Williams I give one Negroe named George about twenty two years of age Sam twenty One years of age Aggy a girl twelve years of age My waggon an Horse and the gears with the waggon and my two lots of land in Forsyth County No eleven hundred and Forty four the other eleven hundred and ninety Seven both in the fourteenth district of the first Section Also I have given Martha Williams one Negro girl valued at two hundred and fifty dollars Sally Pitman one negroe girl to be worth two hundred dollars and lent James T Barrett fifty dollars Reuben one hundred dollars and C A Barrett one hundred dollars the above property to be divided equally.
James Reuben John Barry Sally Martha deducting what I have give them and of their part of my property So as each may have an equal Share in my estate I want the above negroes and other property to be valued and a friendly divide amungst my Six Children James Reuben C A Barrett John Sally Martha what each one has had and what is to come to them in this will I want equally divided amongs them. And should I be in debt for Doctors bill or for burial expenses I want it to come out of my waggon and Buggy or each of the parties of property is willed to pay my executor to raise the money out of the waggon and Buggy.
And I appoint my son C A Barrett my executor to Carry my will into effect and C A Barrett Executor of this my will and C A Barrett my Executor to Sell my two lots in Forsyth and make titles to them.

Georgia Hall CountyIn open court personally appeared Jacob Ebenhart John Merck and William J Dicket who being duly Sworn despose and say that they Saw John Barrett the testator Sign Seal declare and publish the instrument now presented as his last will & testament freely voluntarily and of his own accord and without and compulsion or influence whatever that at the time of the execution of said will said testor was of sound and disposing mind and memory that deponents signed said will as witnesses in the presence of the testator and at his special instance and request and in the presance of each other and Saw Perino Brown do so likewise.

So far as I know or believe And that I will well & truly execute the same by paying first the debts and then the legacies contained in the said will as far as his goods and chattels will thereunto extend and the law charge me and that I will make a true and perfect inventory of all such goods and chattels so help me God
