WILLIAM F. PERRY

William F. Perry was born in Maryland in 1835. At the time of the 1860 census, he was living in a boarding house in the city of Huntsville, the county seat of Walker County. His occupation was professor.
William probably moved to Danville to teach, perhaps in Professor Thomason's School. Perry joined the Danville Mounted Riflemen on May 4, 1861.
It is possible that William went home to Maryland shortly afterwards, as he is not found serving in any Texas unit. In 1870, a W. F. Perry of the right age, born in Maryland, was living in Prince Georges County, Maryland, with a wife, Mary, and one child, age one. It is very possible this is our Professor Perry.
