1. JO ANN TAYLOR, b. July 18, 1934, West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, LA. She married JOHN PORTER ALLEN August 4, 1951 in West Monroe, Ouachita Parish, LA. He was born October 12, 1932 in Winnfield, Winn Parish, LA.
For a time after their marriage, they lived in Monroe, LA, John enlisted in the Air Force for a duratrion of ten years, during which they lived in Alaska, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, France, Germany and Luxembourge. After they returned to the United Statesd, they lived in Greenville, Texas 1961 until 1974. They then, became support missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators. They lived in Papua, New Guinea (1974-1976) and Irian Jaya, Indonesia (1979-1984) while associated with them. They came back from Indonesia in 1976 for their daughter, Rebecca's wedding, staying long enough for their son, Ray's wedding as well before returning to Indonesia. After returning from Indonesia in 1984, they lived in Greenville, Texas until 1998 when they both retired. They sold their home, bought a fifth wheel trailer and moved to North Carolina to volunteer with JAARS, a part of the Wycliffe Foundation. They lived there almost 4 years before moving to Orlando, Florida, At present, JoAnn volunteers at PIONEERS, a christian based planning mission, as a receptionist and John maintains the missionary data base at PIONEERS. He also, volunteers at Wycliffe headquarters doing computer assisted drafting (Auto-Cad). They have had a very intreting life, lived in amny places. They are both born again christians and love the work they have done and are doing with Wycliffe and at Pioneers.
