2. Papers of Dr. David B. Jackson, Greer, S. C., written about 1924; now in possession of his grandson Robert Jack-son, Ga. Copies received 6/21/99. Dr. Jackson’s genealogy gives Jane’s birth as 8 October, but C. G. West gives it as 8 June. Dr. Jackson’s papers indicate that Atatissa was born after the family moved to Ga.
3. Dr. David B. Jackson, grandson of David Jackson and Mary Jackson, stated this in his journal.
4. “Letter from Mr. Chastain to Karen Hett,” ?, Barrett notebook.
5. The dates 1842 and 1843 are given in various sources.

8. C. G. West, in a letter that is among Dr. Jackson’s papers, says Jane died in 1868. However, a letter written by Mollie E. Davis 30 Oct. 1924, states that she died 1867. She is said to be buried at Harrison’s Chapel Methodist Cemetery, five miles east of Spring Place, Murray Co., Ga. as was Benjamin West.

In an undated biographical sketch (probably mid to late 1920’s), Dr. Jackson gives George’s middle initial as “W” and Huldah’s middle name as “Villers.” He also gives information about the unmarked graves in Highland Cemetery of Huldah, her husband, and two sons. He says they are all buried in a line beginning on the south side of the line of graves, Milas first, the mother, the father, then a son Garlan C.

22. Letter of Spartin T. West to Dr. Jackson 6 May 1925 states that C. G.’s wife died just a month before he did.

24. Benjamin T. West, in a letter of Oct 7, 1924, states that Lucy is buried at Harrisons Chapel Methodist Cemetery. However, Dr. Jackson states that she is buried at Pleasant Valley, now Eaton, on the L & R Railroad.
25. M. C. Groves, Lucy’s step-daughter, wrote to Dr. Jackson on 9-19-24 stateing that Lucy had been dead about 27 years.
26. Letter of B. T. West Oct 7, 1924. He states that her husband died after his family left Georgia.
27. M. C. Groves, Lucy’s step-daughter, sent information to Dr. Jackson on 9-19-24 from Dalton, Ga. In his genea-logical notes, Dr. Jackson identifies the second husband as J. D. Brown.

29. C. G. West in a letter dated 12/28/94 says that the sad news has come that Attatissa has died. He doesn’t say where she died, but her last residence that I know of was near Searcy, Ark.

31. Dr. Jackson’s papers state that Cornelius died on the way home from the War, after the surrender; 1865 is just a guess.
32. Birthdate at between 1825 and 1830 is just a guess. kh.
33. Benjamin TG. West, in a letter dated Oct 7, 1924, states that Letty is buried in Harrison’s Chapel Cemetery, Murray Co., Ga.
34. In a letter dated Nov 1924, B. T. West stated that Letty had four sons and two daughters. The sons are named.
35. This name is from Dr. Jackson’s genealogical notes; page entitled “Grandchildren of Massey West.”
36. A letter from his grandson, Dr. James West of Grays, Ark., dated 12/1924, states a middle name of “Washing-ton.”
37. Birthdate of about 1828-30 is just a guess. At this point, I have not even seen census records. KH 8/99
38. Benjamin T. West in a letter of Oct 7, 1924. Gravel Hill Cemetery was said to be six miles south of Armstrong Springs, Ark.
39. Letter from Clara V. West, daughter-in-law of B. T., to Dr. Jackson 6/23/25.
40. Mollie Davis writes in a letter 10/1924 that she visited Uncle and Aunt (Massey and Nancy) 32 years ago and they were both living then.

45. C. G. West, in a letter to Mollie Davis dated Dec 28 1894, writes that he received a letter from Henry Patterson on Christmas Day stating the death of “Nancy Spartins wife.”
46. Note that in one place in his genealogical notes, Dr. Jackson stated that Andrew Woodson Jackson married Elizabeth Underwood.

50. In his final letter to Dr. Jackson, Lafayette tells that he has placed a marble tombstone in the Dryden Cemetery for himself and his wife, and the names and dates can be cut when they die. Margrett is already deceased by this time.

60. 1/14/1/925 letter from Massey Wilborn Jackson to Dr. David Jackson. He spells his name as “Wilborn.” In the letter, he named her “Mrs. W. E. Jarel.” 1910 census gives her name as Willie E.
61. 4/3/1930 letter from Wilie Jackson Maskew of Waco; her father had died by this time.
62. O. L. Pittman, Portsmouth, Va., letter to Dr. Jackson 5/26/25.
63. This son is mentioned in an undated biographical sketch of Pernecey by Dr. Jackson; states that A. J. lives at Welford, S. C. The assumed date is mid to late 1920’s.
64. Bahama and Ephraim are named in Dr. Jackson’s genealogical notes in about mid-twenties.
65. Dr. Jackson’s papers dated Jan 9, 1925
66. This date has been added to Dr. Jackson’s notes about himself and his wife and family.
67. A letter from John Marion Wst to Mrs. Clara V. West, 2/17/25, states that Spartin was born in Tennessee.
68. A letter from B. T. West of April 4, 1925, indicates that Spartin is still living.
69. Letter of Spartin West 6 May 1925; letter of John Marion West Feb. 17, 1925.
70. I do not have information that he died in Missouri, only that he was a resident of Worthington, Missouri, in 1925. He probably died in Missouri. A letter that he wrote to Mrs. Clara West of Armstrong Springs, Arkansas was dated 17 Februrary 1925.
71. Tennessee as state of birth was given in two letters to Dr. Jackson, one written by Spartin West 6 May 1925 and one by John Marion, 17 Feb. 1925.
72. C. G. West, in a letter to Mollie Davis dated 28 Dec 1894, stated that two of his boys had moved to Montana and one had died there (Benjamin Lafayette.) After his death, his wife and children moved back to Putnam Co., Missouri and were living near C. G.
73. Spartin West states that Sterling was born in Mo. in a letter dated 6 May 1925. In a version of the West family history sent in an e-mail by Robert Jackson dated 9/9/99, an unknown person states that Sterling Price West was born July 19, 1853 in Randolph Co., Mo. Other sources give his birthdate as 19 July. For a full text, see notes under Curtis G. West.
74. Mrs. Andrew Massey West, in a letter to Dr. Jackson dated 1931, states that Sterling had died that summer. In an e-mail sent by Robert Jackson 9/9/99, an unknown source has included a version of the West family history which gives his death date as 29 August 1929. This person also states that Sterling died at Dean, Iowa.
75. C. G. West, in a letter to Mollie Davis dated 12/28/94, states that Sterling’s wife had died two years ago this fall. They had 4 boys. Sterling moved back to Putnam Co. with the little boys.
In an e-mail of 9/9/99, Robert Jackson sent a paper detailing the West family history. An unknown person added details of the C. G. West family, including Virginia Lewellen’s name, birth information, and a death date of 1891. This person says she died at Omaha, Mo.

77. The given name, Emily Jane, was sent Fri Dec 10, 1999, by e-mail from Michael Ann, surname unknown, daughter of Ima Bertine Bagley, granddaughter of Charles Elmer Bagley and Martha Eunice West.
78. B. T. West in a letter dated March 5, 1926 states that Henry had a stroke the previous month.
79. Letter from grandson J. B. West Oct 19 1924 states that his father has been dead for 10 years. He also gives the names of his daughters, but not of his wife.

84. Received by e-mail from Robert Jackson 9/20/99, a two-page handwritten paper called “Nearest relatives of Benj. T. West.” There is no author shown. Date is perhaps ‘twenties or ‘thirties. Dr. Jackson states that Nancy had 5 children all living in Arkansas (abut mid-twenties)
85. Dr. Jackson’s genealogical notes give Mary E.’s maiden name as “Crockett.”
86. This date was given in a letter to Dr. Jackson dated 12/17/1924.
87. Dr. Jackson’s genealogical notes give her second name as Jane.

98. May 4, 1925, family history by Lassie Perry Jackson sent to Dr. D. Jackson by W. L. Jackson. She spells his name as “Wilburn.” However, LeeAnn McFaddin (May 2000 FGR) gives the date as 5th August 1904. Also, Lee Ann gives her name as Lassie Arabella.
99. LeeAnn McFaddin FGR sent May 2000, confirms date of birth; she gives “Ballground, Ga.” as place of birth. She also gives his death date and burial place.
100. The identification of the people on a family photo of W. L. Jackson’s family is included in the copies of the Dr. Jackson collection, although I do not have a copy of the photo. “B. P.” was named Beulah in the photo. Homer’s wife was named as “Dessie.” G. Clive was named as Grover Cleveland. Alvoid was called “Miss Alvoid Jackson.” Beulah’s husband was called “Henry Faulks”, and several children were named with a Faulks surname as well as several with Curnutt. No date is on the photo i. d.
101. FGR from LeeAnn McFadden, dated May 2000 gives Beulah’s birthdate and place of birth. Also, it gives marriage date and place, death date and death place. Also, it gives Henry Foulks’ name as W. Henry. 102. LeeAnn McFaddin sent FGR for W. L. Jackson May 2000. She gives first name as Alma Mae (her name was given as Mae in letter by Lassie to Dr. Jackson); also gives her marriage date and place and death date and place, and confirms spouse’s name.
