Steven Robert Barrett was born on September 11, 1885 in San Saba, Texas according to his wife's daybook where she recorded all the names and dates of her family in from 1900 to 1910. He married Molly Matilda Ferrell Hoeser, a widow and the mother of his brothers wife, William John Barrett. Therefore, she was not only my great great grandmother, she was also my great great Aunt.
This daybook is in the possession of Paul Barrett, son of William John Barrett. I transcribed this book in June of 1999. No other person has ever transcribed this book. And it is kept wrapped in plastic.
Molly would write down in this book everyday when someone would work, recording that "Rob" would work clearing land or slaughtering cattle anything that was available in the area. His wife kept a record in this ledger for about 10 years on everything they bought, sold and earned. Rob usually worked for $1.00 a day.
The marriage of Steven Robert Barrett and Molly Ferrell Hoeser is recorded in Madison Co., Texas bk 2 pg 97. Molly was the daughter of John and Lenorah Ferrell according to her daybook.
Steven Robert died of Lockjaw in Weldon, Houston, Texas on Septenmer 16, 1922.
Of course Molly already had grown children from her first husband. And Stephen Robert and Molly Barrett had two children, Earl Barrett and Maddie Barrett McCafferty. I don't have any information on Earl Barrett except what is written in the daybook.
Maddie married Earl Mccafferty. Here is a copy of her obituary:
