Steve Barrett was covicted in two cases of the crime of horse theft. The penelty in one case was issued at five years and in the other at ten years confirnment. If his conduct while in the penetentiary has been such as to ? reasonable assurance of good citizenship in the future, I would recommend that he be pardoned

F.W. Williams Ex Dist. Judge

I join Judge Williams in the above recommendation & will add that while the two cases were made out. still they were so closely akin that it was with difficulty that i made two transactions out, still it has the appearence of being punished twice for the one offense- Deft was a stranger in Houston Co & no one knew him there then-

J.J. Faulk Ex Dist Atty

To his excellency J.S. Hogg Gov.

We the undersigned citizens of the county of Houston State of Texas being the Jury that sat upon the ? pf the cuse of the State of Texas vs Steve Barrett No 3022 & 3092 join the good citizens of Madison County in thier petition for the full pardon of said Steve Barrett for the reasons~

1st That we feel that the law has been fully vindicated and from the certificate of Official Hon L. A. Whatley as his conduct wa believe him to have fully reformed.
