The Wright family is descended from Peter Wright, a blacksmith,  and Agnes Reside who married in Glasgow in July 1805.  Tracing the family further back is difficult, since Wright is a fairly common surname.  However, Peter's father could have been Peter Wright who was married to Katherine Mclaren on 13 February 1779 and had a son Peter christened 10 September 1781 in Denny, which would account for why Peter and Elizabeth's elder children were born in Denny, or Campsie, Stirlingshire, and not in Glasgow, where they were married.  This remains conjecture only.
