The Alston family is descended from James Alston and Agnes Williamson who were married in 1811 in Wisbon and Roberton, Lanarkshire.  There was a James Alston listed in the IGI v. 5.0, born in Linlithgow  16 September 1793 of parents James Alston and Christen Edgar who were married in Linlithgow on 5 Dec 1790. This James Alston may have been him. It would have made him 25 when he married and 46 when he died; about correct. It seems likely since Agnes' parents were married in Linlithgow.  If this is the case, James had a brother John, born 10 September 1795.  Click on any underlined name to find out more about that person.
