63 - 3 June 1844 between Nancy Reed of FCV 1st part, and Harvey Deskins trustee of the county 2nd
part and Jacob Slusher of FCV, whereas the said Nancy Reed stands security to
the said Jacob Slusher for George A. Reed in the sum of $12.52 due 22 December
1843. Also Nancy Reed stands
indebted on her amount of $1.45 due 1 March last, which debts the said Nancy
Reed is deserious and willing to secure & for the further consideration of
$1.00 paid by Harvey Deskins trustee two certain tracts of land one on the
waters of Beaver Creek containing 27 acres, being the land deeded for Elijah
Reed & wife bounded . . . at the waggon road a corner to Mark Reed . . . on
a line of Michael Reeds . . . in a line of George H. Booths. The 2nd tract containing 100
acres being the land deeded from Rebecca Akers & Jos. Akers on the waters
of Little River between Laurel Creek & long shoal branch bounded . . .
beginning at the mouth of Wolf pen branch, also the following property to wit
one bay mare one sorrel mare one bay horse two colts one yearling one clock one
bed & furniture, one large chest, one large pot, one small pot, one small
kettle, 1 trammel ½ doz. pewter plates 3 dishes, one pewter basin one
clock reel & one flase wheel one loom one cow one bed & furniture and
four head of hogs and one tan cow.
If Nancy Reed shall pay Jacob Slusher the sum aforesaid one or before 1
March next then the indenture shall be null & void if not then Harvey
Deskins trustee to sell the land and property to satisfy the debts. signed:

Garman of MCV the other part whereas a certain Griffith Reed by indenture
bearing date 1 September 1834 did grant to John W. Helms and John W. Helms land
belonging intrust to sell and dispose of the land for purpose in the deed
whereas John W. Helms did advertised on 19 October 1836 to sale 100 acres adj.
George Reed & others and at which sale Adam Garman being the highest bidder

part, Wm. A. Reed is justly indebted to Hosey Wimmers for $154.12 ½ by
bond of 3 July 1845 in further consideration of $1.00 paid by Henry Shockey,
Wm. A. Reed sells one track of land being the same land which Reed now lives on
containing 90 akers - if the said
amount is paid on or before 3 October 1845 then the indenture shall be null
& void if not then

231 - 29 March 1848 between J. N. Zentmeyer Clerk of the county court of Floyd
and George W. Wiginton of Patrick County, VA when as A. J. Kirby deputy sheriff
for John Lester Sr. late Sheriff of Floyd County by virtue of the several acts
of the general assembly posed in relations to delinquent and forfeited lands
did on the 20th day of October 1845 oppose the sale at the
courthouse of the said county a tract of land in said county containing 640
acres lying and being on Beaver Creek which in as returned delinquent in the
name of John Wiginton and George Reed for the non payment of taxes due thereon
for the year 1844 amounting in the sum of twenty five cents and where as George
W. Wiginton became the purchaser of the said tract of land for the sum of
twenty five cents and the time allowed for the redemption of said land having
elapsed and no persons having redeemed the same and the law having provided that
the clerk of the county court should convey to the purchaser the said land sold
. . . the said George W. Wiginton
hath requested the said deed to be made.
Now the indenture witnesseth that the said J. N. Zentmeyer in his said
official capacity as well in considerations of the promise of invalid as of one
dollar to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath
granted and conveyed and by these presents doth grant and convey unto the said

270-272 - Charles W. Simmons in the year 1836 sold to Emery E. Reed a land on
Allum Ridge which he conveyed to him on 12 September 1836 by deed containing
293 acres for which Reed paid 62 ½ cents per acres making $133.00 and
which said land by survey under order of court in case of said Simmons against
Reed turns out to contain 445 acres instead of 293 acres and the said court
decreed Reed to said Simmons the difference between the price for 293 acres and
445 acres at 62 ½ cents per acre and to correct the mistake by a new
deed. This deed made 23 September
1854 that Charles W. Simmons doth again grant unto the said Emory E. Reed the

Altizer Lewis Booth and James W. Graham are held firmly bound unto the
Commonwealth of Virginia for $2,000 for the payment of which will and truly be
made we bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators jointly and
severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated 17 June
1852. The consideration of the above
obligation is such that whereas the above bound Andrew J. Reed hath been duly
elected Constable in the fourth district in the County of Floyd for the term of
two years from the first of July next now if the said Reed shall faithfully
charge his duties of office of Constable during his continuance therein then
