"James Abbott Lemmon joined the church, migrated to Utah and dieed in Washington County, Utah 1882."473
A letter written to Mrs. Lydia Workman on June 9, 1943 from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints states, " On the list of claimants for losses against the State of Missouri, referred to above, the name of James Lemon also occurs with a claim of $700. We do not find the date of emigration of James Lemon, but very often families who lived in the states did not emigrate with Church Trains, ut, being accustomed to American methods of transportation, traveled as far as Salt Lake City with freighters or companies bound for California. In Journal History, under date of Oct 16 1852, mention is made to the fact that James Lemon Jun. of Mountainville, Dry Creek, Utah, that he had lost a little boy about two years old, supposed to have been stolen by Indians, some of whom had taken a fancy to him and wanted to buy him for berries.
James Abbott Lemmon adopted an Indian boy named Frank who died at age 15.611
