| We have boxes of beautiful old pictures that we did not
look at until we began researching. We cannot identify many faces -
some are family while others are friends of our relatives. Treasures
passed down from previous generations - not only pictures, but other memorabilia
that tells the story of their lives
This prompted me to document our immediate family pictures. For a Christmas present a few years ago, I created albums for each of our children from birth through high school with dates and short paragraphs of special events. Like many parents, never finished their Baby Books, but did record in shorthand on a calendar every event - first tooth, first haircut for future recording in their books. Never got done! Thirty years later it was quite a task to read the shorthand that told the story of their childhood. What a valuable family history those calendars provided for our children. Now creating an Ancestor Photo Album - have had three copies made from the originals and each of our children will get a documented-picture story of their ancestors. Don't procrastinate - identify those pictures for your descendants now. |
