Emanuel Custer III

Obituary

The above obituary was printed in The Republican (Oakland, Garrett County, Maryland) on July 5, 1906, page 5.  From the obituary we learn his namesake was his grandfather, Emanuel Custer.  His father and mother were David Custer & Margaret Stark.  He enlisted into the Potomac Home Brigade, Company D and was captured during battle at Haper's Ferry, at the age of 21 years.  It also list all three of his wives...Rebecca Friend, Virginia DeWitt and Elma Cuppett.
