Lucinda Mary Griffith

Lucinda "Lucy" Mary Griffith - daughter of Joseph and Emma Moor Griffith - age 92, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Twila Ledford, passed away Thursday May 23, 1974 in Aultman Hospital, Canton, OH. Her death was due to complications following a fall that occured on April 25, 1974. Born in Bergholz, Ohio, she came to Canton in 1924. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Preceded in death by her husband Jacob Hackathorn and a son, William Hackathorn. Survivors include two other daughter, Mrs. Ada Hales and Mrs. Emma McConnell and a son Harry Hackathorn all of Canton; two brothers Edward Griffith of Bergholz, and Joseph Griffith of Canton; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren. Burial at Bergholz Cemetery.

Emma M. Hackathorn - daughter of Jacob P. and Lucinda Griffith Hackathorn - age 80 died Thursday July 17, 1980 in the Nist Geriatric Nursing Home, Canton, OH of complications following a year illness. Born in Bergholz, Ohio, she lived the greater portion of her life in Canton, Ohio. Preceded in death by her husband, Ray McConnell and a daughter, Mrs. Beulah Worley. She was a member of First Christian Church and Welshimer Sunday School Class. Survived by a son, Robert McConnell of Canton; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Hales and Mrs. Twila Ledford and a brother, Harry Hackathorn all of Canton; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. Burial at Bergholz Cemetery.

Harry A. "Tag" Hackathorn
March 10, 1987, Massillon, Ohio

Harry A. Hackathorn - age 78 of Massillon passed away Tuesday March 10, 1987 in Massillon City Hospital following a brief illness.

Born in Bergholz, Ohio, he moved to Canton in 1929. He was retired from the Embro Mfg. Co., where he was a punch press operator.

Survived by his wife Mildred Clark Hackathorn; three daughters [names omitted]; three sons [names omitted]; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Twila Ledford and Mrs. Ada Hales, both of Canton. Burial at Bergholz Cemetery.

Irma L. Hackathorn, age 87, died Monday morning. Preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in 1959. Survived by son (name omitted) of Bowling Green, OH; brother Mr. Way (first name omitted), of Salem: two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; thre great-great-grandchildren. James Hackathorn - son of Crawford and Lyde Griffith Hackathorn - age 70, passed away at home in Bergholz, OH August 8, 1971 after a three month illness. He was a member of the Bergholz Church of Christ, the Senior Citizens Club and a retired coal miner. Survived by his widow Margaret Mercer Hackathorn; two daughters, Mrs John (June) VanAuker of North Jackson, OH, and Mrs Charles (Genevieve) Cizman of Bergholz; one sister Mrs. Bertha Maston of Canton, OH; two grandchildren. Twila M. Hackathorn -age 74, of Canton, passed away Monday morning Dec. 7, 1987 in Aultman Hospital, Canton OH, following a brief illness. Born in Bergholz, OH, she had lived the greater portion of her life in Canton. She was a retired employee of Heggy's Candy Co., where she had worked for 14 years. Member of First Christian Church and Welshimer Bible Class.

Survived by her son [name omitted]; one sister, Mrs. Dewey (Ada) Hales of Canton; four grandchildren. Burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, OH.

William Hackathorn -age 69 passed away November 15, 1970 in Timken Mercy Hospital. In failing health for the past four months, his death was due to complications. Born in Bergholz, Ohio, he lived the greater portion of his life in Canton, Ohio. He was a retired employee of Canton Automobile Club, and was a member of the Church of the Savior United Methodist.

Survived by his widow Blanche Peterson Hackathorn of the home; four daughters [names omitted];
two sons , Lester Hackathorn or Canton; and [name omitted]; his mother Mary (Lucy) Hackathorn of Canton, OH; three sisters, Mrs. Ada Hales, Mrs. Twila Ledford, and Mrs. Emma McConnell all of Canton; a brother Harry Hackathorn of Canton; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton, OH.

Ada Hackathorn -age 91, born January 13, 1907 in Bergholz, Jefferson Co., Ohio, and died February 7, 1998 in Altercare of Canton, OH. She was a member of First Christian Church, where she also belonged to the Welshimer Sunday School Class.

Preceded in death by her husband Dewey Hales; two sisters, Emma McConnell and Twila Ledford; two brothers, William and Harry Hackathorn. Survived by daughter [names omitted] and son-in-law; step-grandson [name omitted] ; several great-grandchildren. Burial at Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, OH.

Dewey Hales - age 71, died June 11, 1970 in the Rose Lane Christian Home following an extended illness. Born at New Somerset, Ohio, he has been a resident of Canton since 1924. Former employee of the United Engineering & Foundry Co. retiring in 1965. Member of the First Christian Church. Survived by his wife Ada Hackathorn Hales; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence L. (Audrey) Guest of Canton. Burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park.

Mrs. Cora Johnson
1953, Tuscarawas County, Ohio

Mrs. Cora Johnson, 85, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray Everhart of Shanesville, after a brief illness.

She was born near Barrs Mills and lived the greater part of her life in the vicinity of Dundee. She was a member of the Dundee Methodist Church and the W.S.C. Society. Her husband, A. Johnson, preceded her in death.

Survivors in addition to the daughter with whom she resided are two sons, Thurman of Dundee and John of Canton; a brother, R. S. Allison of Dundee; two grandchildren and one great grandchild. A daughter and a sister also preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the Dundee Methodist church Monday at 1:30 pm (slow time) with the Rev. W.P. Michael and Rev. L.W. Sifferd officiating. Burial was made in the Dundee cemetery. Services were in charge of Everhart-Hattery Funeral Home of Shanesville.

Funeral Notice

Kuntzman, Harry J., 81, of Brookridge (Brooksville),died Friday, May 14, 1999 in Brooksville Regional Hospital. He was born in Canton, OH and graduated from Jackson High School. He served in the Army Railway Battalion during World War II. He retired from the Hoover Company of N. Canton, OH after 47 years of service. He had been a member and chairman of the employee recreational committee and also played on the company golf and bowling teams. He had also played semi-pro football and baseball. He served for 10 years as a councilman for Waynesburg, OH where he helped organize an adult booster club and the Sandy Valley Bowling League. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0432 and the Elks Lodge #2582. (Listing of family omitted) He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Olive Kuntzman, two brothers, Glen and Carl, one sister-in-law, Leona, and a brother-in-law, Robert Snyder. Memorial services took place Sunday, May 16, 1999 in the Mariner United Methodist Church with Pastor Eugene Setchel officiating. Memorials may be made to the church. (We love and miss you, Grandpa!)
